if Rayner hadn’t shat the bed as housing secretary she’d have been perfect. working class. ideologically sound (hates middle class etc) but that ship has sailed now
Burnham would be perfect if they didn’t block him at every turn

The mediocrity of some of the incumbents isn’t great but it’s not as terrifying as examples like this guy, Reform leader of Donny Council, who appears to be a bit pissed and totally unable to answer any questions about the budget they’ve just been dishcushing, sorry, discussing.
Yeah, I just feel sadly she’d be destroyed by our disgusting media establishment. Actual policy doesn’t seem to matter any more. It’s a war against woke
They won’t be able to block Burnham much longer. I think Milliband is already on it
Anyone that opposes the money people will just be publically ruined in the media.
Polanski headlines saying that he says “no country should have the right to exist, when talking about Isreal”. Such a triggering line you would assume he’s said something crazy confrontational but no. Reading what he actually said, if people actually read it before being outraged by the headline they realise he said something completely legitimate and morally perfect.
My Mrs has just messaged me (from downstairs lol) that Reform got in here (our Ward). We’ve had a really good (albeit Tory) local councillor for ages.
My Mrs works a little with the LA here and Reform are not good. We’ve felt direct impact of how useless they are.
Feels like the day after Brexit. That went so well and we’re all so much better off that people are voting for MORE? I’m just astounded.
A big fuck you to anyone that voted Reform.
Been a fan of his for some time, not because I necessarily agree with him on every subject, he just seems genuine when that’s really lacking elsewhere.
Polanski seems to have really done some damage with the tone deaf Golders Green re-tweet. Alot of damage for a re-tweet.
He’s being positioned as " soft left " which I think translates to " as far left as is acceptable to new Labour "
Not sure Labour will get the youth vote back after Gaza and the nation of strangers shite
The thing that’s scary with Farage is the crypto shite which attracts the young bros and people who only give a shit about money and themselves generally, which is alot of people.
Alot of people in the states vote Trump for this reason.
We’re heading for a fascist government no two ways about it. Decades of inequality, half the country making out like fucking thieves (most of them while voting Labour), cuts to education and welfare have got people so turned around that they’ll vote for the people who are going to make it all even worse for them. It’s all just so depressing. I don’t have any hope left.
Not sure, alot can happen in two years especially with Trump. There will definitely be some coalition things happening to prevent a Reform govt in 29 imo.
Blair had similar mid term results and won the next ge still
Labour have been painted as the authoritarian party with over 18 online ID, yes some of it was under the Tories but came in under Labour, so people now blame them, who haven’t then helped themselves by pushing for full digital ID’s, Face ID cameras in towns and cities, ect, plus a perceived blanket ban of protests and the party that arrests people over tweets (even though this has be skewed by large).
Coming into power and taking every freebie available and caught breaking/bending rules.
Then managed to handle themselves being mixed up in the Epstein files as poorly as anyone could. They’ve really done a lot of it themselves unfortunately.
They completely mis-read things. They are an authoritarian party. It was just so clumsy and shite from the start. Hitting the disabled and pensioners straight away was all done terribly. Starmer is a total bell weather. When you think he was Corbyns main guy in his leadership then morphed into David Cameron overnight, it isn’t hard to see the problem in peoples minds. Did absolutely nothing about private equity. Now they’re attacking The Greens and calling them racist. Essentially their own voters
Mad thing is Labour have done what everyone said they wanted, immigration down from 650k to 204k in a year. 70%. Not a sausage ![]()
I used to think that the decline in the relevance of the traditional media might be a good thing, that right and left might both get a fair shake but if anything it’s even worse now. For all the self-inflicted damage that Labour have done to themselves most of it wouldn’t gain any traction at all if Farage or the Tories had done it. Look at Farage’s £5m and most people seem to just think “god luck to him”. You’ve got the very poorest cheering someone on who is blatantly only wanting to steal from them.
I was thinking about this the other day after reading some Facebook comments. I think a large part of Labour’s problem is that they have taken for granted the fact that poorer people understand that they are at least supposed to be on their side. I honestly think that there are huge swathes of the population who do not understand that Labour will (and they will to lesser or greater extents) try to tax rich people more to spend on poorer people. I don’t mean that people are cynical and don’t believe that’s what will happen but that they simply have no knowledge of the basic ideological differences and so they think Reform are the ones who are with them.
Totally, they have never been able to get that simple narrative across. After the 2008 crash they did a terrible job of articulating who’s fault it was and let the Tories pin it all on Gordon Brown, who was the best PM we’ve had for generations compared to Starmer. It’s a shame he didn’t replace Blair in his second term.
At least we now have a handy map of places to avoid when holidaying in the UK.
Genuinely looked this morning.
I’m pretty set on moving to south west France when the bin lids are through the teens. F this country lol
You might not say that by about 6pm today ![]()
