I’m wondering what the story is behind that man being arrested for pushing the woman into the path of a bus. A millionaire banker was arrested in 2017 and released for lack of evidence. The man arrested this week is also a millionaire banker - probably the same man. What led to him being rearrested 9 years later? My guess is he had a falling out with a partner or someone who knew the story, and they then went to the police.

Ok today will be a mad one.

That’s an absolute paddling.

It’s stil concerning 40% of people were willing to vope for that waste of skin and the far far right, but you take your wins when you can.

Only 55% people actually voted or something like that. Reform are pulling the best turn outs they can whereas the other parties are battling voter apathy

My wife and I were talking about this last night. Our son is 14 months now, and would be absolutely love bombing around a place like this looking at the animals and making sure we were following him to whatever he wanted to look at. He’d only be a few yards in front of us absolute maximum, but it’d be so easy for something like this to happen, and it’d be too fast for us to stop it. It’s absolutely terrifying.

Remember the days of yore when a party leader lasted for the whole duration of the parties stint in power

When you think that the Tory vote has completely collapsed and been replaced by the far right, it’s a great result. 55% is massive in the current climate. Gonna be a weird time for a while now, they’re not gonna force Starmer out straight away. Hopefully he does the decent thing at some point sooner rather than later. There’s more Mandleson stuff to come which might be enough.

Farage is all over the place atm I am enjoying it

i feel like this is the best outcome in way. let Starmer resign at some point and take the blame for the bad stuff with him - mandelson, digital ID, everything that Rachel Reeves does etc.

Burnham can then take credit for all the genuinely great stuff Starmer has done that our right wing press has quietly brushed under the carpet and he can distance himself from the bad bits

I’m not a huge fan of Starmer but a lot of the hate seems to be more like a facebook meme than something based on anything substantial to do with anything that he’s either done or not done. I’m not sure if it’s crap communication or his personality that’s lead to this or just we’ve reached a point with social media where any PM is going to be pilloried in the same way for no reason other than that they’re the PM. We’ll find out I guess.

Well it is a meme for the bigots who aren’t interested in facts at the Mail etc, but for people who had a more traditional view of what a Labour Party does it’s been absolutely diabolical. It’s blue Labour and McSweeney and Glasman and all the terrible policies they enacted straight away. Add on top Starmer having no discernible personality when things go wrong it’s not been good has it. I don’t hold out much hope that Burnham will be much further to the left really but he seems like the best person to keep the fascists out. I think that’s the best we can hope for this decade. Trying to apeeal to Reform voters has turned out to be a terrible idea and I’m all for that. It’s more ideological than personality based underneath it all imo.

Apparently he’s been bailed now. Events such as these do have an effect on the public consciousness whether we like it or not.

It would take all my will not punish the individual on the spot.

Just horrible.

The thing with Keir is you just get the feeling he’s doing what his advisors say. He’s a bell-weather. I don’t really credit any politician with doing anything personally these days because they all speak in such un-personal management type speak. That’s why people love someone like Mick Lynch who actually has a personality and can explain things in terms people relate to, but it’s a lost art on Downing St. If Burnham can bring that back a bit he might do well.

I hate Reform as much anyone but the way people see it is that Starmer is trying to trying to bring government into every aspect of our lives. Banning under 16s from social media is a backdoor way in to getting his failed Digital ID through. Wanting automatic entry to your banking and daily transactions, ect. You’ll now have to prove you are over 16 to use anything. His policies over reach into peoples lives and that is why a lot of people don’t like him too. He needs to go for the countries sake and Labour need to self correct the path they are on, because a lot of non-racists are starting to hate him too, which means that’ll split the vote wide open for Reform.
