The once respected Sunday Times chatting unmitigated shite again

I wonder if there’s some sort of punishment for helping this guy evade justice for 9 years.

I guess they’ll get treated leniently for coming forward finally if there are any consequences. My physic guess is that he is probably someone that is a selfish, abusive bully going by his actions and why they couldn’t come forward before, if this is anything to go by. He clearly thinks other people shouldn’t be using the path while he’s trying to jog, I mean how very dare they get in his way, he owns the path and thinks nothing of pushing them out of the way. Into traffic no less. Now imagine what he’s like to live with, oof.

Starmer expected to resign within the next few hours.

He’s off then, to me he just got lost in some issues that just weren’t worthwhile. Good call on Iran though, the Tories would definitely have dragged us into that madness and he didn’t.

The noise blaring in the background of his speech is like some kind of metaphor for the state of modern politics. I feel sorry for him personally but it has been a shit show. He is Epstein tainted because of Mandelson, and that’s his responsibility along with the awful direction of Labour generally.

Similar to Corbyn in a way - two leaders who had strong moral/personal principles who then found that they’re not really compatible with the position of being a world leader.

Same thing will presumably happen with Burnham. Again, he seems like a good guy - but let’s see how long that gets him in British politics

Burnham is the ultimate in that sense, he called his time in government a failure pretty much. He might even come in and swiftly resign himself.

If Burnham continues with the same blue Labour mediocrity it will be curtains at the GE. Hard to be optimistic that he can manage to change things in enough of a meaningful way to win over the left and centre flanks. Hope he can cos the alternative is going to be so so bad. On the other hand it’s good to see Farage in such a mess atm

Yeah Reform aren’t a worry for me now at all, for some reason they removed their own usp with a hard line on immigration and took on the absolute worst Tories.

Nice work.

I’m not sure I’d go so far as not worried myself, I could see Farage becoming leader of the Tories the way it’s going, which drags everything further to the right again. What Braverman and Jenrick and the other Tory bigots have shown us is the vicious racism that has always been at the heart and soul of the Conservative party. They were always just far too British to let it show like the positively gauche lot we have these days do. Nigel tries to be like this but his acolytes are too vulgar for him these days. He sees himself as a lord but he’s still just as much of a fascist at heart.

I don’t see the Tories in that way, to me it’s just utterly self serving or shareholder serving bs. They’re made up of people who would take a consultancy role at Meta or whoever in flash once it’s over. Look at Sunak.

Well it’s that too of course but they have always been horrible bigots and have advanced terrible policies all over the world. You don’t need to dig too deep into the books to see that

I actually feel sorry for Keir Starmer. I don’t see he did anything particularly wrong.
His main problem was just that he didn’t have personal charisma.
Then again, the two most charismatic PMs in recent years have been Tony Blair and Boris Johnson, and look what happened under them.

I mean, his Chancellor restricted the winter fuel allowance within weeks of getting into power and there was the whole Mandelson affair which potentially has been the end of him

Keir’s biggest issue has been a complete lack of communication about the MANY good things his government had managed. They’re battling a majority right wing media who have been very successful at brushing any Labour success under the rug. If it is to be Burnham he is a much better salesman and speaker than Keir so perhaps this won’t be such an issue

Keir didn’t make enough of a personal stance on Gaza so I think that did it for me. Otherwise i’d be just thankful that the tories were out. If we’re going to get a personality into number 10 like everyone seems to think we need then at least be a personality/divisive character on the right side and call all the conflicts out for what they are and expose the wronguns.

I’m not sure a complete lack of moral compass counts as charismatic myself. Starmer understands the concept of public service v personal enrichment at least

He loved the odd freebie did Starmer, let’s be honest like the rest all them not just s Starmer thing.

To some extent it’s just timing as well, everyone is sick to death of the old status quo and have seen through it. Gaza tore the veil off the myth of western/liberal moral superiority. Keir was kind of stuck trying to make the old way look like it made sense any more when most people can see it doesn’t.
