“I support minority groups unless the individual from said minority group disagrees with me”
I hate this lip service so much.

Nah @buildafire please don’t
It’s got to the point where people are saying, “so if Trump is guilty of things said in the emails, what’s so wrong with what he’s done?”
So basically, people are warped to fuck, beyond saving!
You’re worried not being able to wear a logo on your jumper? If you’re even arguing this you’re basically saying that you actually want to look racist and you enjoy looking/being racist because it’s got certain social perks, you like the controversy, you seek confrontation. You’re one step away from my first comment. Stop being a Michael Fabricant and help your neighbour not plotting to hang them in the tree of their garden.
Mean Jokes aside, skateboarding isn’t what we all want it to be anymore, we all feel it but it’s now bigger than that and there is nothing we can do about it. Pick some important issues that will progress the good parts not sitting being angry about pointless shite.
Indy’s don’t fucking turn properly for me anyway, hated them.
Have you ever thought that if you took away knowledge that it’s a skateboarding brand (difficult as it’s so ingrained in our consciousness) and had a nazi symbol and “independent” (using it’s literal meaning) on a t shirt, people would think you are having a crisis
Not all skaters who ride Indys are Nazis but all Nazis who skate ride Indys. ![]()
Quite apart from the logo, Independent are probably still the biggest truck company but also one of the least innovative nowadays.
The main ‘innovations’ they offer these days are paint jobs or late-to-market me-toos. Other brands were doing inverted kingpins so they eventually offered them - but they never bothered to look at ways to stop the kingpin slipping, as Ace have done. Same thing for responsive geometry - they basically re-released an old design to take on the new loose-trick brands. And titanium axles were a response to Theeve a few years back. I’d defy anyone to notice any difference in the weight or feel of a board with titanium versus regular axles, once it’s all set up.
Yes, a lot of Indy riders like the solid reliability they’ve got used to over the years, but you also want to feel that the brand is looking forward as well as back.
Thanks to this thread Ive just found £160 cash I’d forgotten about in the Indy 40 years of ads book I got free a number of years back. Fucking winner! ![]()
The only good thing to come from this topic
Oi there’s some 7’s for sale ![]()
also can you imagine wearing a truck company Tshirt, that’s a wild choice
Venture Awake tee is an elite level clothing item.
We also have this for sale at CSC ![]()
Are you chat gpt in disguise. I honestly don’t think anyone in the real world gives a fuck about truck innovation that much, whatever brand you ride.
I mean a 147 Thunder Raw now is the same as when I last worked in a skate shop 10 years ago. I’m pretty sure they sell a lot still.
What does this even mean?
I’m sure they do, but Thunder also make the new T2, which has had great reviews. I’ve not tried them myself but they say they have a faster turn
Come back I miss you x
Appreciate it mate, you’ve been a highlight of here and of N26 for about 20 years now. Just feels weird being present in a place where somebody as horribly patronising and openly awful as you-all-know-who is chatting shit about fucking truck geometry while dropping in casual comments dismissing BLM and trans-rights and getting a pass. Guy literally got banned for it, and he’s back, insidiously doing the same thing from a different angle like the fully paid-up right-wing propagandist that he is.
As far as Independent doing the sensible thing and dropping a brand mark that just about everybody was sick of, it seems like this makes his angle clear, that it’s about profit rather than dignity:
’Does brand activism build effective businesses?’
“Because at the end of the day, effective communication, and effective business, are about hearts and minds, not boycotts and banners.”
Goddamn I feel old now.
Is Sleipnir W******? OP definitely isn’t
Indeed
Warwick acts like he’s trying to infiltrate a socialist cell ![]()
Can’t we allow him to say what he thinks though? Why does it matter if he’s right-wing? He thinks Independent needed justification to ditch their Nazi-inspired logo. He thinks ditching it has negatively affected the brand. Having views like that are easy to challenge, if you can be bothered, and even easier to dismiss if you can’t.
To put it in simple terms, I don’t want Nazi logos in my skate shop, cheers.
He’s not stepped out of line as far as i’m aware but he’s got a certain (politician) way of saying his opinion which rubs people wrong. Comments of his above can be read in many ways, one way they’re not wrong and in others they’re very distasteful. I personally think that it’s a case of just ill informed, out of touch with the reality of many classes and cultures but probably feels so informed because the knowledge of certain facts he chooses to interpret. It’s honestly what we all do but we are all different based on our experiences.
A forum is a conversation where minds can be changed if discussions go the right way. It’s a little sad when people that have good opinions and intentions have become so touchy that they won’t even try to interact with a whole platform because there is something they don’t want to see.
Not apologising for talking about/analysing people directly, it’s just my opinion.
That actually explains a lot
And you ever had anything to worry about? The indy logo was always the indy logo. The only people who saw anything totalitarian or genocidal in it were people who, like i pointed out, knew fucking nothing about skateboarding. I’m fine with changing names of teams like Redskins. There was a brand of cheese in Australia for many years called Coon, which says plenty about how fucked in the head this country is in reality. That’s fine, that shit needed to go. The independent truck company logo was an always will be about skateboarding.
Like I tried to argue in the article, the issue was about the paranoia of culture warriors from the middle class looking for something amongst the rabble they’ve always sneered at (FUCKEN SKEG) to make an example out of. Like social climbing elitist arsewipes don’t have issues with autocratic overreach and shitting on outsiders from inside sterile preppie cliques? I think they do.
Fuck them. Fuck their culture war. The sooner Independent brings their OG logo back the better.
