If you can, book in with a physio for both especially with your arm like that after a month , you may have torn something and potentially scar tissue hindering your movement. Can be sorted by a good physio. Not a chiropractor or osteopath.
Sounds like the IT band. I used to suffer quite badly with that after cycling and worked out it was due to my supinated gait (ankle going outwards). I put wedges under my cleats to counteract it and it completely cured it. Not sure if you’re cycling clipped in or just generally?
Just in general, but I’ll have a look at my foot posture next time I’m out. It’s only on one side, my left leg is fine so it must be something specific to that side of my body.
Since moving to Bristol I’ve been cycling to and from work, after a 6 or so years since last being on a bike. It’s down hill for 20 minutes then intensely up hill for the last 10/15.
My right calf has become increasingly tight and painful and it’s got to the point where it feels constantly in a state of tension and mild discomfort, bordering on pain. It feels worse in the evening when I lay down and the leg is flat.
Is this common in cycling? Any advice?
From having similar with running my advice would be lay off for a bit if you can and start doing some calf raises and other stretching.
Cheers. It’s really frustrating, I have to cycle to work as the public transport in the city is abit of a joke. Hopefully between now and returning to work on the 2nd of jan, it can rest and work itself out,
Health websites seem to fluctuate between advising heat and stretching and DEFINITELY NO heat or stretching.
Yeah, rest is really the key unfortunately. Are you taking it as easy as you can going back up the hill?
Trying but it’s really fucking steep (for me).
Think I’m gonna rinse the house savings and get a second hand electronic assisted bike early in the new year
Edit- this information means nothing to me but I’m guessing it’s a medium to steep hill?
A bike fit might help too. Getting the right saddle height and fore and aft position etc. It can have an influence on how comfortable you are on the bike.
If you’ve never used olbas oil as muscle rub before I would strongly advise doing so next time you’re feeling achey
Unless the strain is in your cock
Hi, I saw this on skateboarder’s companion. Just took me a couple minutes to fill out as i’ve not had physiotherapy for my past injuries. Please take a look.
Had an MRI on a suspected meniscus injury in my right knee yesterday.
It isn’t hurting or causing me problems currently, but I haven’t played football, gone skateboarding or done anything that might aggravate it for 6 weeks now.
Just got to sit tight and wait for the results now. Thoughts and prayers etc
Yes….thoughts and prayers
Smashed the board into my shin earlier today and got a weird lump. Being me, i pushed the lump back into my shin and it disappeared. Shall i expect an aneurysm later or is it all good?
Check the other side of your leg. In case it came out the back.
My mate said i need to check the lump hasn’t reappeared somewhere else too counted and there’s still just the two testicles in the sack
Received an update from my GP via text message. MRI results came back - meniscus all in tact! So that’s a good thing.
However, I have no idea what the actual problem is! I can’t text them back on whatever system they used. Called the reception and my Dr has gone on holiday for 2 weeks.
On the waiting list for physio, but I might bite the bullet and pay for a private session so I don’t have to wait. Know what i’m doing at the gym, just need someone to diagnose and tell me what exercises to do more of and what not to do.
Knee Update:
Managed to get an early appointment with the physio through a cancelation.
Turns out what I have is “insertional hamstring tendinopathy”.
Feel a lot better knowing what it is and that I wasn’t going mad!
Basically just need to do a load of hamstring stretches to sort it.
