Injuries and treatment

I think hamstring stretches have done wonders for my knees, just made a habit of it on the stairs a few times a day, one leg at a time hanging over the step, ten slow calf raises and then a 30 second stretch with the heel hanging right down so you feel it.

Knocked my left ankle into my right ankle last sat night. Flash of pain and next thing I know is my right inner ankle is twice the size of what it should be. Spent the last few days on Ibuprofen, paracetamol, ice packs etc etc and it wont go down. Went and wasted some NHS time at the sort-of-local NHS walk in centre and found out it is Bursitis which is great because it isn’t tendons or anything. Swellbow on my ankle.

Call me an idiot but I sort of thought swellbow was limited to elbows. And my current swellbow still isn’t 100% after 2 weeks.

Flu is subsiding but I have an angry cough and no energy because all food tastes awful so I dont want to eat.

Swankle mate.

What’s the hip version? Used to have a horrible one of those

Swhip maybe silent h and that

Hipper innit.

Aha nah I know that, trying to shoehorn the swollen part in to go with my still active swellbow

Didn’t Hawk one time say ‘If you come skate my ramp…’ and then drops his pants and he has a ‘super hipper’. I have no idea if my memory is correct but pretty sure he calls it a ‘super hipper’. Also I think his pants were drawstring Limpies. No idea whether relevant.

Damn, what’s that on? Thinking Birdhouse Untilted but also have a feeling it’s not actually his part or video he says it on. Maybe like Planet Earth right at the end

Chris miller section in now n later.

I just started and didn’t understand how Tony was in a PE video, or how come someone non-Powell was allowed to skate his ramp.

Anyone had a Triquetrum fracture before, on side of wrist?

Did it last Weds but didn’t get to hospital until Friday, have been given a strap but they weren’t too sure on recovery time. Feels okay, a lot better than the days after

Turns out one month later swankle is not swankle, it is ‘tissue’ of some sort, Lymphedema maybe. And a scan is likely months away. No private healthcare. NHS wont remove it.

Given the green light to skate.

If my leg ends up like a fucking tree trunk…. :sob:

Have results of my MRI and consultation on Friday but also funeral of relative has just come up on the same day, about 4 hours drive away. And the next date they have is in fucking June, but it’s also the week when I’m supposed to take my daughter to the UK.

And I don’t want to stretch it too far as I’m quite close to when I won’t be allowed back in Estonia as my passport is due for renewal. And I want to send it off asap as will be needing it if Russia invades (seriously)

Doc just rang me back about the knee.

Good news: no foreign objects in the knee
Bad news: grade 4 cartilage issues

Now, English isn’t his first language (possibly his 3rd language) but apparently I can get plasma injections on the knee to help. If it doesn’t then I possibly need a patella prosthesis

So I looked up how bad grade 4 was and it was maximum bad! Grade 0 is normal cartilege, grade 4 is there’s nothing left, either close to or bone on bone. Shit!
And a patella prosthesis is a new kneecap.

Quite a lot to sink in here. Going to have a think about it.

replacement kneecap was not on my bingo card tbh

Ahh good luck - at least something is happening but the knee sounds rough.

My mate has just had an MRI on his knee. Told they won’t operate regardless of the outcome because he’s too old at 47. No dice for my ankle either. Pricing up private healthcare now as the NHS is just too over stretched.

Yeah might have to do what I did with ankle and just come back and have it seen privately. The docs are good here but not as good as in the UK.

Good luck Spanky, what were the symptoms? My wife is having some x-rays on her hip for some kind of cartilage issue and I had surgery for a miniscus tear years ago which resolved my problems overnight and haven’t come back! Hope it goes well for you.

I am currently lying on the couch with my leg in the air and and ice pack on my calf. Landed slightly awkwardly skating earlier and felt a twang, calf’s knackered. Hope it gets better overnight.
