Completely agree but we ended up getting some anyway. Can’t remember how we ended up going for it,I’ll have to search through messages later but I think at the time it was offered we maybe thought it was some elaborate trolling campaign.
I know Mike Arnold riding for them was definitely a factor. Surely they can’t be all bad?
There was an interview with the team that complex or hypebeast put out where it’s clear they’re all on the wind up, and it just read as peak vice magazine ‘irony’.
if anything it just makes me think even less of the team for taking the dirty money
@jimo sorry was running around a service station and didn’t actually answer the question.
I think the only positive is the team getting paid but if you’re getting paid by tory party donor financiers you might as well just go for a monster energy contract and at least cut out the direct link to the genocide in Palestine.
Time spent waiting for my daughter to wee and buy a suprisingly decent service station lasagne gave me time to hink about the timings involved.
Had the IDF fundraising /trump connection stuff dropped on slap before you had put the order in?
Brutal for shops to buy the product then have the full extent of th shit show unveiled after if so
We knew there was a degree of wrongness associated with the brand, can’t pretend otherwise. We also thought maybe we were being misinformed or deliberately led down the wrong path, maybe even by the brand itself. Kind of did the same with Rassvet, we were like ‘Naaaahhh we’ll skip that thanks’ but then got a little bit anyway cos we felt bad jumping to possibly wrong conclusions.
Might seem obvious to take the moral high ground on these things but if the distro is one you trust you are always tempted to show a little support. There’s enough stuff we don’t buy already for various reasons.
I think Jim was referring to gosha rubchinskiy (founder and former owner) being accused by a 16 year old model of being cooerced into sending him nudes.
Gosha doesn’t have any involvement with rassvet and it’s just run by the skaters involved but there was a point where it was abit iffy like ‘err, what’s the deal with this company, is it paying a nonce?’
They made an anti war statement at the start of the invasion which takes a lot of balls. Not sure I’d have the confidence to be a Russian citizen and make a point of denouncing it all
Yeah I don’t know the ins and outs but when that happened I think the skate guys involved seperated from gosha and continued the company without him as they had built something of value, with gosha just acting as a money man so no love was lost.
Don’t take that as gospel, but I believe the general gist of it.
