Interview Thread

Loosely related is a guy called Neil Breen. Where Tommy Wiseau still had some technical ability behind his films, this guy is worth investigating if you like film which look like they influenced Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace, but came a few years after…

“I’ve been doing this 21-day Deepak Chopra meditation program…”

He’s also been studying kabbalah and has an astrologer in Ojai.

So I was told for a long time—these people who I work with, these spiritual advisors and I have an astrologer who I would call once a year to check in and there’s this lady in Ojai who I would see and get these four-hour card readings. So over the years I bumped into these people and talked to them and everybody told me, “You need to write more. You are going to make and sell something with your art and your writing.” Person after person, all these different people would tell me that. They would do these weird readings, like I would get tarot card readings, I would go see psychics and whatever. These people told me over and over, “You’re gonna make something, you’re gonna sell something, you need to write more and you need to do more art.”

Only counted one new sequence, all the rest are old photos. Adidas must be wondering why they are even paying this guy.

It always feels like he’s trying to tick boxes with an idea he’s set himself to come across more intelligent and mystical than he really is. One, if not my favourite to watch but jeez, I can’t do with him personally that much.

Remember when pops got on Cons after fully flared and did fuck all besides make tables?

This feels like that.

Marc Johnson has always been certified wacko right? Or did he just party too hard and have a mid-life crisis?

I wouldn’t have put him on adidas

It really bums me out. He is my all time favourite skateboarder and i just want him to be quiet and just put out some footage - something to back up such a long interview. Doesn’t have to be groundbreaking. Just do a bs noseblunt on an interesting looking ledge. A flip 5.0.

Please Marc, come on.

To me it’s possibly the best example of how not to move to a big sports shoe company sponsor. That interview he did with Daewon just after they went to adidas was totally horrific.

Before that move he’d actually been skating pretty well, really well even, it’s all such a shame.

At least Pops could show he’d actually been doing something with his time. Pointless, but at least he was making something.

Big Shoe Company gets grief for being too sporty, then they sponsor the least sporty dude ever, and get grief.

Ah. If I waited longer I could’ve read it online, instead of reading photographs of each page by someone on SLAP.

Bugger.

Well, you remember the interview previous to that where he point blank states that he would never ever consider riding for a sports brand, it was bang against his morals.

Of course, that’s what encouraged so much hate. These days it’s almost inevitable that an ageing pro will make that move and cash in at around 40 but this opportunity should’ve gone to someone like Creager and not this fool.

I still like MJ. Him backing me up on Insta to Puleo only makes him radder, haha.

Anyone brave enough to tackle the unedited audio?

Reading his account of the extent he was fucked up on booze makes me want to go a little bit easier on him, re. some of the decisions he’s made / bridges he’s burned over the last few years. He’s lucky to be alive by the sounds of it.

No excuses for that astrology bullshit though.

Oooooo sick. Whst was that about? Missed this completely.

That’s properly london to scotland roadtrip material, once you’ve run out of bunts or vent citys

Puleo basically did the equivalent of a 'I know you are, you said you are but what am I? reply, haha.

Er, was he backing you up?
