Haha, the Jacob Marley method? Tried all sorts bar the cpap method, I’ve found hugging a pillow and sleeping on my side is the most effective at reducing it. Sadly have had to sleep in separate rooms for the past year since I suddenly got a lot worse with it, but the spare room is sick, so who’s the real winner?

Anyone got any tips on a portable air con unit at a decent price?

I got one off ebay a few years back and did the paypal credit thing to spread it out. Alecome is the brand-never heard of it but when you get 16 degree cool air out and its 30 plus outside its amazing. Cool story.

I see what you did there.

We got this one a few years back. I protested at the time, saying it was too expensive but in this heat, it’s a god send.

The HOMCOM ones are meant to be good for the money. 250 odd. Hard to drop 500 on one

Annoyingly I haven’t got the right windows in my oven of a flat to be able to fit the hose for the hot air, so ended up buying a fan instead.

Not the same as aircon obviously, but this has been worth the money so far. Almost silent unless you turn it up to 11. Currently sold out though

Yeah we got one of the shark fans last year that has a misting function. Actually works really well. Mostly use it if I’m on the rower. There’s probably only a week of days each year where I’d actually bother to use it otherwise.

Understandably it appears the whole country is out of stock of AC’s. We got one on order this morning and they had to cancel it as they were out of stock. More my wife is panicking about the newborn not sleeping which I understand but sort of at a “it is what it is” point with it all.

We got a ceiling fan in our room and it does make a bit of a difference on these hot nights
