Music that you feel compelled to share (live versions only?)

Big up Rat, Kenny, Peanut etc.

Container Drivers is one of my favourite tracks off (probably) my favourite album by The Fall.

It’s just a classic nod to rockabilly with some wonderful and very northern vocals. Can’t go wrong there. I really like the video they did for Perverted by Language which is essentially a mashup of music videos and an interview. That’s actually what got me into The Fall (specifically Wings and Eat Y’Self Fitter).

Fall videos are great. I like the one for Edinburgh Man.

Edit: apologies for derailing the live-ness of this thread

They were such a great band. Only managed to see them once, great gig apart from MES singing half of it from the dressing room after wandering off stage halfway through

Saw them most years for a very long time since MES would book the Glasgow shows himself and do them whether they were on tour or not, but one time I saw Von Sudenfed and he did the entire show from the dressing room. He’d said in an interview he only did that band because his missus liked Mouse on Mars.

Vaguely relatedly I’m at a fifth birthday party in the same building I’ve previously seen Throbbing Gristle and Einsturzende Neubauten in. So far this hasn’t been as good, but there’s been a lot of screaming and I’m pretty sure things will get broken so similarities could arise.

Edit: Wrong thread. Whatever.

New Neubauten single is good. Come down and see them in September!

You worked at Mo Wax?

Always loved Mo Wax. If I ever part with all my vinyl I’ll be keeping that particular chunk…

Audio is pretty good on this peak-era Sonic Yourh Chicago show.

Opening with Schizophrenia! One of my favourites!

It’d have been on the Sister tour, so good move to start with the opener, but I’m pretty sure they started opening with Candle when they were touring Daydream Nation. Probably already sick of Teenage Riot before the LP even came out.

They were such a fantastic band around that time. I saw them in 1988 with R***man and they opened with Teenage Riot. I saw them again in ā€˜89 with Mudhoney and according to t’internet they opened with Brother James.

Marc Maron interviewed Thurston recently and it’s a really interesting talk about early sonic youth. His book is meant to be a decent read too though I haven’t checked it out yet
