Just picked this up. Thanks to @jimvo for the tip on the Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band.
Something has got to knock Korsakov’s Scheherazade off Classic FM’s top 10 playlist. They play it everyday at least ten times and all I can think when I hear it is the sample used for Cisqo’s Thong song… smh
Resident classical head but that’s the music of choice during studies.
Possible Abp by me but this one’s a banger.
Been playing this on repeat.
Big up Jeffrey Lewis. The Chelsea Hotel Oral Sex song is a favourite.
Love it when songs reference other songs like that.
Might as well post this, all offcuts / rejects from another thing I’m working on but don’t tell anyone
Oh yes…Love a bit of Jeffrey Lewis. He’s great live.
So many amazing songs. Hit YouTube over lockdown was gold, too.
This is some heavy, poignant stuff…especially to the type of person frequenting a forum like this:
…and just when I thought I couldn’t like him enough, he put out that Crass covers album.
Yeah, funnily enough I’d recently started listening to Thee Marloes so made sense when I realised they were on the same label as well.
My mate’s zine’s latest issue has a big JL feature.
The two singles off of Devin Townsend’s soon to be released album are sick. I kinda wanna see him live just to see if he plays any Strapping Young Lad stuff.
Love Jeffrey Lewis so good live, seen him three times in Northampton since 2008. Played again the other week but I was away sadly.
Probably should have checked in last night to see if anyone went to Godspeed. Feel like there’s always a forum attendance. As always, they were great.
Do most of you wear ear plugs nowadays at gigs? Noticed a large portion of people with them last night.
I saw him supporting the Cribs in around 2003 in Brum and he was really good. My friend fell asleep stood up while the Cribs were playing. The Cribs were good too. This takes me back
I didn;t even clock that they were playing until I realised the tickets were all sold out.
Bummer.
We need a Godspeed ticket alert thread.
Got offered a ticket but couldn’t make it. I saw them in 2022 so figured I didn’t need to see them again so soon, but then regretted that.
I’ve been meaning to buy ear plugs ages, after 20 years of playing drums and going to gigs it feels time to maybe start protecting my hearing. I occasionally use those free foam ones but they’re not very good
Anyone got any recs on some decent earplugs that don’t just deaden all the volume?
Saw them once and they were really good, but the support (Fly Pan Am), which featured most of Godspeed, were way better. Godspeed had an old tape-to-tape projector thing showing massacres and slo-mo explosions and whatnot. Met them the next day in the street and they were all wearing very dope technical outerwear (slightly disappointingly), and I said I attended and enjoyed the show, and the one that managed to actually engage sounded like he was having the most stressful conversation of his life. Honestly made the Pastels seem like Motörhead.
