Music thread

This was from their mcr gig last week:

I didn’t go, pic is my mate’s.
Don’t despair, it’s not sold out yet?

I love gigs with phone bans. It’s becoming a lot more common

tickets are back available again, weird. I might give this one a miss, cancelled going to the last 4 or 5 gigs as my brain gets in the way, this might be too much. My Mates coming up for Dinosaur Jr so i’ll make do with that

Hold on, it’s on a Tuesday? I’m free Tuesdays but would probably need have Wed off work.

Brand New/Jesse Lacey are back!!

Been skating a lot to bones recently

Wonder what the wider response would be if he starts releasing music/starts a new project. Can’t really see BN touring again.

Stumbled onto this last night, a project called ‘Warrington Runcorn New Town Development Plan’ - think ambient electronic music that might be playing in the background as you walk along a concrete overpass in 1973. Maybe one for @visuals0und

Well since I posted that, they’ve just announced a three date US tour!

The ticket page has a new full band photo. Industry peeps on Reddit are saying that there’s a full summer tour planned and a new album, too. Fingers crossed for a UK leg!

So yeah, BRAND NEW IS BACK BABY!

Kunt and the Gang have dates whose with me.

Been loving the Norma Fucking Rockwell album recently. It’s been helping me process things. I listened to it at work on Saturday and Sunday. The whole album is great.

I bought this on vinyl for my wife as a surprise Xmas present one year, except my eldest son waltzed into the kitchen and told her that we’d just been to Rough Trade to get her a Lana Del Rey record. Ha!

can’t remember who was excited about Slayer playing at the Sabbath gig but they’re doing a show separately now -

Mastodon are sick. Amon Amarth would be a laugh too

Couple of years back I ended up down a “hauntology” rabbit hole, listening heavily to stuff from labels Ghost Box, Clay Pipe, Castles in Space. Leans fairly heavy on the “nostalgia for a future that never happened” vibe, Warrington Runcorn have been the real success out of all of that. CiS recently released an electronic album by Jo Johnson who used to be in Riot Grrrl group Huggy Bear - Let Go Your Fear | Jo Johnson

Yeah I’ve got a couple of the Warrington Runcorn albums, very much channels that mid-century modernist look / sound.

Lots of good things on Castle In Space, my friend Barry aka APTA’s ‘The Pool’ album came out last week

Yes! Love Lana.
All albums are bangers with only a couple of bad songs.

The Beta Band have reformed, they’re touring and playing all their old stuff, tickets come out this week.

I was getting all self-congratulatory for a minute there, looking at the gigs I’ve got coming up and thinking that I had such a wide-ranging taste… but the fact is, every single person attending all these gigs will be a 40+ white dude with a beard.

Anyone fancy going to see The Get Up Kids in Camden 11th June?

25th anniversary of Something to Write Home About.

Last minute gig to see Badly Drawn Boy in Stoke last night. It was actually good, enjoyable.
I have never been into his stuff post Bewilderbeast which I like as an album and this gig was a warm up for 25 year anniversary of that album and they played it start to finish. Band were really young and were shitting it but stoked they pulled it off. Nice night.
