I get what you mean though. You book so far in advance and it’s a pain in the arse so by the time it comes around you’re over it and you’d rather not have the hassle and stay in. I’ve done it.
That’s not healthy though, you’ll be a recluse with a perma dressing gown soon enough if you start with that.
Yeah, looking at the on stage timings I could just head there for the main act, not arsed about the support and hanging around yourself at a gig is no fun
And yes, Inferno is getting better with each listen
Been like that for years. Gotta be something special to get me out these days. Especially got tired of rap concerts years ago, they never spend money on the PA it always sounds shite and it’s always a ball ache. I saw The Nightingales in Ramsgate recently which was really great though, last big one before that was Burning Spear at Brixton in 2023.
Went to see Kraftwerk on Friday night. It was brilliant - average age of the crowd was about 60, fully seated in comfy seats, everyone very polite at the bar, when they started the guy in front of us started filming it and we politely asked him to lower his phone because it was in the way and he was extremely apologetic and didn’t do it again. Oh and Kraftwerk were really good.
It’s a real problem with most engineers I think. It baffles me why they mix to what they know and not to the system and to the band. It’s always, kick, snare, toms, kit, bass and then just pile everything on top. Everything is way too loud and you have a vocal or solo instrument that never cuts through.
I always get hyped for going to gigs alone, it sounds like a good time, but then I decide not to at the last minute and have never actually made it to one lol.
Would be good for me especially as I listen to so much weird shit that nobody knows about or would scare the shit out of them
exactly this. anything remotely extreme its hard to get people up for it. even Nile i had to go solo and that’s not that mad. love it though, going to things on your own should be less taboo
I’m the same. I had tickets to see Einstürzende Neubauten a couple of years ago and couldn’t face it when it came to the night, partly general anxiety and partly couldn’t face schlepping across town to Shepherds Bush. Felt pretty shit about it afterwards. I forced myself out to go and see Swans in Brixton earlier this year and it was so worth the effort despite the brutal length of the show destroying my back.
Small scale local gigs feel way more my level these days. I dragged the family to see Dick Taylor from The Pretty Things play Sandown Airfield when we were on holiday on the Isle of Wight last year and it was incredible.
@notactuallyhere just got inferno today. Ive had to daisy chain the dvd drive that needs 2 usb connections to a usb adapter that goes to another adapter with my mouse and keyboard plugged into it.
