I quite like this guy, Jarv.
radio from last weekend, first tune by meth hi mate !
Haven’t read this page yet, but i used to really like Select.
Will def have a nose around this site - cheers!
Only bad point is they’ve been scanned at 72dpi so have banding on them, something @buildafire would never do, right?
I didn’t even know you could spread that few dots out in an inch.
Select was great though, from 1991 to about 1995. The John Harris years, I think. Went on and did Loaded.
It’s different in style to the writing now. Had some of that NME spikiness, not really admitting to liking anything, a bit snarky and snide in places. Lots of music writing these days seems very heartfelt, everything is ‘wonderful’ or something. Somewhere in the middle would be about right probably
Mary Anne Hobbs. Will play Brian Eno followed by System of a Down and consider both to be “wonderful” with that weird fake voice that sounds like she’s about to start giggling with how utterly beautiful that Limp Bizkit number just was. Unlistenable. She never used to be anything near this bad when she did the Breeze Block.
Its perfectly reasonable to love music at total opposite ends equally however if you’re quoting her regarding limp bizkit then yeah, she gone bananas.
Good example! haha. Team Lauren all the way. I like their awkward hand overs, it’s like an indie version of Alan Partridge and Dave Clifton.
Not aways right next to each other. It worked with Peel but she’s so far off that.
I always wonder who tunes in for Liz Fucking Kershaw and then listens to Gilles. A bumbling interview with some band who supported the Foo Fighters followed by new cuts from a Malian trap producer…
Same with the Freak Zone on a Sunday, followed by Don ‘I invented punk rock and reggae’ Letts introducing Arctic Monkeys live from some festival.
Love this guy.
This track speaks volumes today.
He died last year.
RIP Charles Bradley
There is a pact between me and a mate (whom I got into Ween) that If Ween are said to tour the UK, then we must drop absolutely anything and everything to see them.
I think that is suitable, no matter what we’re up to - work, family events or anything.
I finally bought this on vinyl some time back and it’s honestly one of my favourite Aphex Twin pieces.
