Yeah seen that. Tis cool. I’m proper gear geeky ha.
LS: I don’t think SP has done a bad album but past few have had a real harsh cold sound I just can’t warm to even though when I hear the odd track on shuffle I think “yeah it’s pretty good”
I really like Hello Everything, it’s just cheesy in a great way. Just a souvenir has a block of tracks in the middle that are gold but a couple early on are just weird cringe, The coathanger? erm Out of them all I think I like hard Normal Daddy, I don’t know why.
SP has loads of cheesy elements in every album to be fair. I have only heard 2 tracks and i’m always reserved in my opinion at first.
I really didn’t like Mike & Rich. Not into Mikes style at all.
There’s a couple of good tracks on Mike & Rich. The re-release had a load of extras, and theres a couple of better ones in there, too.
The best bits are the bits which sound like Mike had little to do with it…
Theres only two tracks from the new SP out (and a remix), right? The remix sounds better than both the tracks. One of them really is BRA 240bpm. Good call. Bad for SP.
been keeping an eye on stuff irisarri puts out since build (i think?) posted his shameless years album in the old music thread, just got this through yesterday & was a very enjoyable work listen today
This is wicked. Listened in my way to work this morning. Any chance of a tracklist? Recognise quite a few bits (Genaside II, SUAD, Lenny De Ice etc.) but others are either new to me or familiar but lost in the mists of time.
Nice one, glad you like it! Puts me in a good mood this stuff. I’m planning to do more, now I’ve got my head around these mini decks. I’ll see what I can do re tracklist
@jimvo nice one, after 25 years of buying vinyl i played out on NYE with just a USB, and the mix a few posts above is done from USB on my cheap numark CD decks that have usb slot. felt a bit guilty but also its bit of a revelation, loads of DJ mates switched to serato years ago but i never did. when i used to music reviews for magazines i was on a quite a lot of mailing lists for reggae and got sent hundreds of CDs most of which i only listened to once and stuck in a box. before xmas i had a week or so ripping them and all of a sudden i had 3000+ tunes digitally.
i love a bit of old skool but the couple of CDs i have with some classics is already mixed and so the tunes dont start or end clean. would you be up for a wetransfer mp3 swap? i can send you a batch of reggae if you send me some old skool?
also when did mixcloud start trying to charge people to upgrade to premium to scroll backwards through a mix?? i have used mixcloud for ages but had no idea it did that? had to start yours again from the beginning to listen to a tune the the second time
Jimvo with some tunes from about the era that I got into rave stuff and vital with reggae that I’ve had an ear for even before that because of my dad’s mates and their wide musical tastes.
I’ve been storing up an idea for a reggae mix for a while that I did start working on but has, like most projects I start lately, fallen by the wayside.
I sold a good 300 drum and bass records to a good mate before I moved to Sweden that covered a good few eras and genres.
Miss a good mix.
I have Traktor and a really cheap USB mixing console that does work quite well, a decent DAW to record into and edit, all the tools really, but none of the time.
Pair of decks and vinyl are still my favourite.
