So good to be confused by young-people music. They’ve got their thing, and we don’t understand it. Result! Everything’s going just fine. The new Ghostemane is total shit, but this from a couple of years ago is great. 274 million viewers can’t be wrong.
Seems he isn’t a total dickhead either, which makes him pretty unique in that world.
It’s hip-hop I guess, though not really. There’s screamo-style vocals, black metal inspired logos, heavy electronics, distorted bass. The lyrics are introspective, emo almost. Sonically it’s closer to rock, but it’s not rock.
I can hear the inspirations in the music, but how do you define it?
Speaking of disturbing videos, does anyone remember a realty fucked up witch house thing from a few years ago? I think it was Salem but it doesn’t show up on google. It used various weird movies, including Häxan: Witchcraft through the Ages.
Mostly just repeats down all the tracks of a few albums that I must have played a few times each with What’s Up Danger from Spider-Man - Into the Spider-Verse straight in at number 3 thanks to my daughter and Alexa.
These lists are always interesting, like, I don’t think I’ve listened to Eminem’s last album since it came out but apparently I listened to it enough on initial release for it to really make a dent in my list. Really wish he wasn’t skewing my stats…
Otherwise it’s all the same few artist I always listen to and then a couple of random standalone tracks I must have rinsed (Camper Van Beethoven/The Mars Volta).
