We had rats in this big old subdivided warehouse space in London when I had a workshop there, they came into my bit by chewing a hole in the ceiling. Neighbour caught one in a trap and the other rats chewed off its body and took it away just leaving the head stuck in the trap.
Spotted a smallish rat at my current workshop a few weeks ago but blocked up the hole I saw it scuttle out of and no sign since thankfully.
In my mum and dad’s house just after we moved in there was this godawful stench coming from the cooker so we moved it out, couldn’t find anything. After opening it up we found a dead rat halfway chewing through a live cable, urgh
An old farmer who we used to buy straw from had 5 really nice Jack Russells that followed him about all day. When we loaded up the big bails of straw onto the truck, these dogs would rush in and tear any rats apart. It is the most brutal thing ive ever seen in my life.
He came to a local comp here a couple winters ago, asked for drags on every zoot, drank off every bottle he saw then somehow got Covid (how surprising), which meant he had to cancel a trip to Africa. He later called my mate who organizes said comp, telling him he was full of shit for letting Covid spread like that or something. My mate said he could call the Vans Europe guys and tell them about his behavior, which seemed to calm him down. Pretty much everybody there hated him.
I didn’t really like the new Antihero vid either. Some good skating for sure but the thing as a whole felt kinda corny.
There’s good traps you can catch but not kill mice with. Those are the ones you want.
Mice aren’t that hard to catch by hand. Or maybe I just practiced a lot trying to rescue them from my cat’s attacks. They freeze easily, especially in front of a cat. Only got bitten once, got scared of getting a stupid infection but I sanitised my hand and nothing happened.
Exact same thing happened to me when i was about 7 and my uncle took me to the farm next door to theirs and showed me a load of Jack Russells ratting and it was horrifying. Seemed like itd never end either. About 30 rats against half a dozen terriers and by the end it was more a soup than a rat.
Seen that happen too, it’s gross but pretty impressive. Amazing what dogs can do having had those behaviours bred into them. The way pointers point and retrievers retrieve and all terriers like JRs and Schnauzers have to shred every little animal. Working dogs are the best.
Roofers came to fix roof. Later in the week it’s leaking again so theyre back again Tuesday. Really fucking over it
The water from the tree stand has soaked through the rug it was standing on and left huge black mould stains all over my carpet.
Modest Mouse’s drummer has passed away at 45, so sad.

Yeah so sad. Must have been sudden, apparently just a few days ago they were pretty positive about his outlook. Gonna have a listen, it’s been a while.
He was stage 4, so unfortunately I think it was more palliative rather than cure. But I’m just speculating from what little information is out there currently.

I went to see them many years when they had Johnny Marr and they were very good. 45 is obviously no age at all to pass and horrible timing too.
I never got to see them. We had tickets for a U.K. tour in 2014 (I think), which they ended up cancelling.
I wish I was in the US to see them on the Brand New/Modest Mouse tour. Two of my favourite bands together would have been otherworldly!
I used their music in LP back in 2016, too. Stoked on how this came together in the end, especially Welsh Tommy’s clips.
