Not Stoked.

I teach media and film. It’s as enjoyable as it may sound to some, 75% 6th form and the rest KS4. But recruitment in my school as with the rest of education is in the absolute pits.

Why is the job so hard for the new people? Just hectic as fuck?

Unrealistic expectations from parents and heads of schools, no budget, shit pay, overworked, kids being pricks, exam boards…

I did 3 years as a technician so had it pretty easy but got a nice insight into how it was for teachers.

I also got paid more than an newly qualified teacher which is ridiculous.

Shit pay for the amount of responsibility. A management culture of ‘that’s your problem not mine’. National curriculum is outdated. Irresponsible/absent parents. Violence. Zero mental health infrastructure etc etc

Pretty much as above, I wouldn’t say it’s hard (I do it and am no expert), but it needs abit of a jack of all trades approach as it’s a vocational course so theory for exams but also 11 different coursework units ranging from animation to radio production and both have been very rigid and unable/unwilling to adapt to other areas.

Recruitment/retention is in absolute free fall at the moment and it think its a case of over promising at interview and underdelivering when reality hits.

Great. Google Ads has suspended one of my main accounts out of the clear blue sky. No reason. No explanation. Didn’t do anything. 10 year old account.

I in no way get paid enough to absorb this much stress.

Booked last friday off work earlier in the year, forgot about it and worked.

Ah mate, thats fucking annoying. No change in ad copy, literally nothing? What product is it?

Do you work for an agency?

Did you manage to sort the other campaigns out.

I had our Amazon Seller Account put under review and deffo cost us sales until I managed to get it back.

I tried adding an abbreviation of my clients business name as an account asset because they only give you 25 characters and the full name is an NHS trust so it’s really long.

It obviously triggered something and it shat itself

It’s a verified account so it’s inexplicable.

I filled out a massive appeal form last night. It changed the suspension reason to another thing this morning so I had to fill out the same enormous form again this time with even more detail. Literally hours.

Now it’s asking me to fill out a 30 step form which I’m confident I’m not going to be able to fill in to Google’s satisfaction.

I’m genuinely considering sacking it off but I’m 38 and have absolutely no clue what else I could even do as a job. I barely know how to do this one.

Yup I feel the same. Thought of doing it within a business there are loads of jobs within companies.

Are fb ads worth it? I saw a ridiculous ad for them recently saying “we make £3 for every £1 we spend on fb ads” riiight

Was it next to an ad saying there were horny milfs in your area too? Sounds as likely

Any PPC ads are worth it if you make more money than you put in.

I probably had a way higher return on ad spend that when I worked for a hearing aid company.

My audience were…erm…more willing than others say to hand over their details + they were very high ticket items. Average order value was in the region of £2.2k iirc.

Any sort of business like that where you gather lead info for extremely high value items would almost definitely be worth doing for any company. Private healthcare, solar panels, roofing, kitchens etc…that sort of thing. Anything involving quotes.

I don’t have any experience in straight up sales on FB. Some people I’m sure are making a killing on FB whilst lots of people I imagine are losing tons of money with shit ads for products that people don’t want to audiences that don’t care.

If you have some offer that no one wants, no budget to use and no means of testing or your business sucks after gathering lead data, then it’s doomed to fail.

No they are not pulled everything into a different budget end of this year.

This is clothing though - incredibly competitive market.

No power since yesterday morning, and the national grid just pushed back their estimate for reconnection to 2200 Monday

Trying to shoe horn a pool table somewhere, nowhere works, whole house plot is too thin for any idea. Don’t really want to start thinking about moving house just so I can have a pool table.

Outdoor pool?

No, no, you start looking for a house with a room big enough for a pool table

Got flashed by the cameras on the bit of M4 as you come out of London but…I’m confused to how these fully work. I was doing 70, so wasn’t gunning it or owt.

I mean, you got the ones that work with the set limits that are posted on the gantry above and/or if there are lane closures with an ‘X’ to show what lane/s are shut, but this went off on a gantry before the one with the posted limits.

It did show on a sign at the top left, it either had 50 or 60 then a few lines with 'x’s to show what lanes were shut and a message to say road works. I’m not sure if I was to do 60 from there, then drop 50 at the next one? I’ve always thought these were just telling you the speed for the next gantry. Or they just went off at random (something I’ve been aware of before).

A good few others got flashed alongside me, so I wasn’t entirely sure.
