The boss’s PC was a budget, bog standard, £300 sack of cack, so I then ended up using their personal iMac, a bottom tier 8Gb RAM/256Gb model from 2021 which takes an age to do anything. My machine at home has 128Gb RAM, 12 TB storage, high end CPU and GPU and all the usual software, plug-ins and assets I’d use.
No WFH, no hybrid, as everybody needs to be in the office. All down to control. No other real reasons, just that we learn more being in the office, which is crap of course. It’s purely about control and presenteeism.
It’s an easy job, pay is good, but there’s a lot wrong with how it’s operated and I’m keeping an eye out for other jobs. I’m in no rush to leave just yet, the previous 2.5 years before the job as a freelancer were horrible and I can’t face that again.
Make some awful graphics, use papyrus font present on microsoft word etc and when they ask say the computer made you do it. Then again, sounds like your boss might be into Papyrus.
As Franc said hope it’s not the lurg that’s been going round. I had it for nearly 4 weeks. Ended going to the docs who just said essentially it’s just proper flu that’s going round and mine had developed into a chest infection. Week of anti biotics and was right as rain by the end of the course, but wiped me out for weeks. Hope you feel better soon!
Pretty devastated by this. 42 and Flo closing in such a short period of time is going to have a massive negative impact on the scene here.
On a completely unrelated note, what the fuck is Nike SB up to? They oversupply skate shops with lots of shoes they will never shift and expect a certain amount of space on a shop’s shoe rack. Are they trying to fuck everything up on purpose? Absolute bell ends. Fuck nike.
