Fucking MacBook died on me , it was a shit year of make 2011 and known for GPU fails. Done everything to try get it running to no joy. And I mean everything, all the boot up key promts etc . It’s fucked and blue screening me after freezing on start up .
I spoke to a mac repair specialist , he said it’s not worth spending the money as parts are only refurbished and will break again. Best save the repair money for a new model.
What’s annoying is my last back up was in October 
I’ve got a data cable on order for recovery but that’s recovery. I need all my web data/passwords , iTunes etc
Has anyone here pulled out an old mac hard drive and put it in a similar model and got it working to run time machine back up ?
You should be able to get a sata3 cable to usb, I forget the name, but it plugs in via usb to your new Mac and then time machine should be able to boot/recover/start up from it.
When you get a new Mac it will ask if you want to restore from another Mac, plug your old Mac hard drive in and it will build from it.
Basically if the HD is ok, you will be ok.

Had the kids to look after since the morning while the Mrs slept after working late shift.
She gets up in the afternoon, starts giving me orders to make their food and then says she wants to go out for a run, leaving me with more time looking after kids.
Mentally draining.
Time to get on your bike and take a joint for the ride, lose track of time then head home saying you got a flat tyre

Your passwords and stuff should be stored on keychain in iCloud so your safe there.
Stormfront keep emailing me with 0% on MacBooks if that’s any help.
I don’t use iCloud . Anything stored in the cloud is hackable . Someone created it so someone can hack it .

Look up using your macbook as an external drive to another mac machine, usually means setting it in Target mode or something. Definitely doable, usually done via usb aswell. As @ForwardMotion said, if the HD is ok, then you’ll be ok…
