Not Stoked.

You can spot the people who’ve never done a job like that when you’re in a place like that.

Do it, it’s one job that is a very long way off a robot and computer from taking over. Especially bespoke builds/ landscaping and cabinet making.

I did see some amazing but worrying technology that will soon have film construction companies shitting it.
The mandalorian was filmed in front of a huge 8k screen with all rendered landscapes. It blew my mind. That’s one hell of a lot of jobs gone BUT one hell of a lot of the earths resources saved. Which I kind of rather have for the sake of the next generation’s future.

You’re not Cheetahsheets on Slap forum are you?

I’m not. I peek at Slap from time to time and Cheetahsheets is a name I know but can’t remember when he’s all about, (given the state of Slap at the moment it’s probably cancelling people or exposing nazis). Although having read my last post back, he could be renowned for (unintentionally) making what look like disingenuous humble brag like posts. It genuinely wasn’t meant to sound like that if it did… I’ll stick to talking about skateboarding from now on… it’s just easier that way.

It wasn’t a dig, I was joking. Always interested to hear how people manage to make it work like you have, sounds ace.

No worries. The possibility of me being mistaken for a Slap
Pal wouldn’t necessarily be a positive thing  Jamjar’s Talking Heads post is how I feel a lot of the time. The imposter bit when I was working and the ‘how did I get here?’ bit when not. I don’t know how things have worked out to this point. Luck more than anything I guess, I certainly never had a plan, and still don’t. Just trying to live in the moment and enjoy the ride for now. We all know things can change at the flick of a switch. That is a thought which occasionally wakes me up at night.

Absolutely agree with this.

The worst thing for me was I found that UK restaurant staff are always looked down on. In my 20s in Dublin, waiting tables was a job to do between jobs, whereas in the UK, it seemed like working in a warehouse or call centre was the default job. If you were good in a busy part of Dublin, you could make €100 per night. In the UK, things like paying the restaurant 5-10% of what you’ve sold were common in places like Los Iguanas - basically paying to work.

People who are nice to their friends and nasty to the waiting staff are wankers, 100% of the time.

Unreal Engine. It’s the render engine behind half of the world’s computer games. Been looking into it a lot lately, it’ll be really useful in my line of work, mainly to replace shifting the film production to Nevada/Svalbard/Vietnam or wherever. Set builders will still be needed though.

You win at life. It’s good to hear how you appreciate it.

Switched my dog to a different food. Every single thing in my house has shit or piss on it now. He’s made a conscious effort to travel to every part of every room to shit and piss.

Man, that’s not good… I have a cocker spaniel that had tummy issues related to food for quite a while. After trying a bunch of different things I settled on Aatu for dogs. I use a mixture of the dry kibble and canned wet food. It’s worked a treat. She loves it too. There’s enough of a variety of flavours to keep even the fussiest dog interested. It doesn’t look half bad. I mean, if the shit hits the fan ever and there’s a good shortage, I’d probably give it a go myself.

Got a fever or any of that? Loads of kids here have a bad cold that has a mild cough and general malaise but there’s no fever or proper loss of taste so they’re not getting tested or sent home from school

Oh I 100% agree. Kids have gone back to school which always leads to colds and bugs everywhere. Let alone public safety, you’d think people should be able to get tests for peace of mind

World beating yeah right

Same boat here. Two year old had one which came back inconclusive and another needed, but there aren’t any available. Thankfully she’s not really ill, but the second has to be today or it’ll be outside the ‘5 days since symptoms began’ window and we’ll all have to self isolate for a fortnight. Two keyworkers out of action. I appreciate things could be much worse but it’s a bit of a shitshow.

What symptoms did she have?

Really feel for you. Before all this you wouldn’t think anything of it, it’s so common for kids, especially at primary. Now, every cough is loaded. I did read that the bigger symptom with younger kids was diarrhoea, not anosmia.

They just had a couple of actor guests on Victoria Derbyshire.
Victoria had to mention that the actors could be together as they are in a bubble.
Both actors then confirmed that they’re being tested every couple of days.
That must apply to a whole crew of people.
How important is filming a program over general every day life for the general population?

Cough and a temperature.

Cheers Mick. Same to you.

Such absolute bullshit

Fucking hell, what an absolute shambles. It’s not like you’re living on the Shetland Islands.

That’s fucked! I got tested last month, went online, and booked a test, was all done and home 45 mins and results back in 21 hours later. I don’t get how it’s gone to shit now.
