We kept our son off of school yesterday because of a cold.
The message my wife left for the school was vague so I called later to confirm that it’s nothing more than a cold.
There’s, as is normal at this time of year, lots of kids who have it.
The school have been really good though and are not in a state of panic over it.
He went back today seemingly all fine again.
Youngest now though has been a snot box today and has a temperature.
The snots is a clear sign that it’s the same cold just affecting him more heavily than it did the eldest.

Yes.

Our eldest starting school has mellowed things out a little at home thankfully. She started reception on Monday, total cluster fuck at the school gate. Nobody seem to take charge or know what’s going on, but today it seemed to go more smoothly. Get the kids in and out as they arrive rather then waiting for the allocated time for each particular class to go in. Fingers crossed you can get your results or something else sorted.

back to solo sessions

All because that super spreader Cummings wanted to celebrate his wife’s birthday in Country Durham! I mean check his eye sight! I can’t see us being on the list, pretty low here.

Starting uni work properly tomorrow, albeit part-time, and thought I’d have a look at what we’re going to be discussing.

This is honestly in the introduction of what I need to read:

I am well aware that there is nothing more perilous than an after-dinner keynote, since the speaker is supposed to entertain the audience with witty anecdotes. I have chosen another tack: To make it more memorable, I decided to make it as earnest and as boring as possible.”

Fuck.

Is that a joke? And if it is, is it funny?

More restrictions imposed here in Dublin, mainly affecting restaurants (now outdoor seating or takeaway only) and organised sport. FFS

One of the times my littlest was really ill we had to call our paramedics, can’t remember why. We told them we’d been alternating ibuprofen and paracetamol calpol and it was barely making a dent in his temperature. They told us to give him the maximum dose of both together and it brought it down

Nurse at my grandads care home just tested positive :frowning:

Also, getting an error 500 every time I try to post in the covid thread. Not sure what’s going on there.

Should be fixed now, sorry everyone, ran out of disk space. Might be due for a server upgrade soon…

Drove over to Leeds today to play on mountain bikes at the Urban Bike Park (which is actually pretty ace). Went with a mate who has recently split with his wife, is massively conscious of his weight and generally not in a great place, hoping it would give him a bit of a positive buzz for a while.

Which it was, until his ridiculously expensive carbon cranks cracked on the second run down. No injury luckily, but it scared me so must have been ten times worse for him.

It was ace to catch up and spend some time together but fucking hell… Poor guy. Never rains eh?

Has he tried intermittent fasting?

I’ve been doing that for a month and a half and feel much better. I didn’t need to lose that much weight but wanted to feel in better shape as I love food and have been eating far too much every day for like two decades. Now I simply skip breakfast most days. Eat lunch at 12:30ish, a snack or two if I feel like it during the afternoon, then dinner at 8ish and nothing until the next day. It’s not even hard, you just have to settle into that new routine. Doesn’t take long. I don’t count calories or anything, if I feel like having a salad, I have a salad, if I feel like having a burger with chips, I have a burger with chips. I’ve lost 5 or 6 kilos in about 6 weeks and feel physically much better.

Don’t you feel super hungry/fucked if you don’t eat? What if you wanted to skate at like 12? Surely you’d eat breakfast then right?
