He’s probably had a few X Games and Munster wins. Speaking of which, why didn’t he pull this one out in his run? If he did, I’d probably be £200 richer right now!?
If he thinks that’s hilarious he’ll die if he sees any Alan partridge
Edit cant tell if that’s a male or female Charlie
That juggling knobhead fucked up my carefully calculated multi bet and robbed me of $900
Just caught up with the men’s park final and wanted to say thanks to @LA and Marc, it was cool to watch it with some amazing commentary
I got really confused at seeing your insta story about needing a men’s finals ticket @LA and then hearing your voice as it all kicked off
Commentary fucked me off tbh. Kept talking about “oh this is the best competition in skateboarding history” - when we all know that title belongs to Jim’s Ramp Jam!
Seriously though, both the Men’s and Women’s events my Dad (obvs a muggle) was texting me run by run throughout! He loved it and so did I!
Not sure if you remember the Euro contest circuit in 03/04 as Wainwright won literally all of them, large and small alike. He was always able to turn it on like that when it mattered and killed it on transition for the laugh. Granted, he wouldn’t be in the same bracket as Rune Glifberg for example with big park skills, but for overall competition mindset and technical ability, well, there’s obviously enough there for a juggernaut contest skating organisation like China’s to give him a career in coaching. I was super surprised when I heard that was his new job too, so hopefully it works out for him.
Wainwright can defo do the ramps. Seen him first hand!
If you swim for 2 hours non-stop straight up and down the Seine they should give you 3 golds. Mental.
Have you been recently? It’s still disgusting
I was struck by the difference between Dallas Oberholzer (49) and Andy Mac (51).
Massive respect to Oberholer, but he looked like what he was - an older guy doing amazingly well to hold his own against younger, fitter skaters with much bigger bags of tricks. But Andy Mac was actually a contender. He was never going to win, but he was properly impressive.
Come on, one is a home town hero and the other is a multi X-Games winner, world class vert skater since the 90s. There is no comparison.
I heard Dallas only really gets to compete because he can afford to go to all the qualifiers where as most South Africans can’t. Could be wrong about that though. Maybe there is no-one else in SA that is better than him? Seems unlikely.
It just comes down to the way the Olympics work.
There are 22 places for the Olympics.
Each continent has to be represented.
Africa hasn’t got a skateboard infrastructure like Europe, etc.
So, until that is sorted the standard is going to be lower. Dallas is basically the only guy in the qualifiers for his continent. He has to go through them but it doesn’t matter where he places - he is basically in the Olympics from day one as he is the only representative from there.
In the same way we (Europe) don’t have an infrastructure like the USA so people like Lizzie go for team Finland. Or Andy Mac goes to Team GB.
I fucking love Dallas.
He’s such a legit geezer.
Builds parks for a living.
I’m glad he is in there.
Could I leverage my African citizenship to compete in the qualifiers and be in the olympics next time? I reckon I could learn a few bowl moves in the next 4 years
He’s basically Eddie the Eagle and it was kind of sick.
Worked for Andy Mac!
Commentators were so good, makes me wonder what normal folk think about all the gobbledigook coming out their mouths. GF was so stoked on Lucy. Well done LA!
Andy Mac was fucking rad. I expected him to just get a couple of backside airs in, and the odd handplant but he ripped! Ok, it wasnt medal standard but he was defo good enough to be a contender.
But Andy Mac represented UK skateboarding to the world, that’s a tragedy.
Should have put Tom Penny in.
