I guess there was a little bit more to it in that I’d been emailing the ‘boss’ for three years about the gig but didn’t get a single reply… and the story goes something along the lines of, BBC are broke, £1000’s each per head for media accred, travel, accom & fees, so they saved themselves a small fortune by having me in through the back door.

Companies struggle and do what they can to deliver what they feel is best and it seems the BBC is in the same boat.
Not sure it’s a good thing in terms of possibly where they should be in the ecosystem - but it is definitely a good thing to know they’ve got the hustle…just like you have. And everyone else surviving.
