Haha! Bollocks.
Wish we were having this chat in the pub.
Right but I stand by my point that he races F1 cars which the public can’t buy.
I bet he has contracts that don’t allow him to wear a competitors products.
A car is the competitors product, haha…
I knew I’d forgot something as you left.
You’re totally right about contracts on that level, but I think Gino is on more of a mellow deal with Nike. He’s not exactly churning out content these days, is he? As long as he’s there on the team sheet, and they can whack his name of a shoe for the middle-aged market every now and again, I reckon they’re sweet.
A new Gino shoe or colour on Nike briefly makes me forget about Nige and all that stuff.
I remember Muska dropping the first £100 skate shoe and being in Nikes (the chilling photos not skating) in a Shorty’s Japan tour article the same month. To be honest I wouldn’t wear another companies stuff if I was hooked up/paid, on the chill or not.
Very fair points.
Do any Gino geeks know if he’s even worn adidas before? I can’t remember seeing it myself.
That post does stand out though, his main output in the last few years has pretty much been chilling/lifestyle photos where he’s always wearing Nikes.
Weck off Nike is more of a talking point on Slap it seems, that says it all really.
On Video Winter 2000 (?) with the Emerica Australian tour and Marc Johnson did this savage uphill boardslide on that building corner sculpture in Melbourne wearing a pair of white Nike Cortez…
Doesn’t count, Nike weren’t making skate shoes then.
I remember at the height of the Yeezy ‘shoe’ craze Kanye was wearing half cabs.
I remember there being a team photo (of all things) in a mag with him wearing them, as well as shopping. On Video might of covered it?
And now Cab probably wears Yeezys.
Based on his recent outfits.
Amount of content Gino has put out, and then after a Bruin x Poets collab to wear Adi and still be on the Nike team page I get Hugo’s point.
I wear both. Adi to skate these days, Nike to chill.
Actually watched it now. Thought it was just a chill shot, didn’t realise it was an actual promo clip. Certainly makes the question a bit more interesting.
Respect for the use of ‘willy nilly’
“The first citation for “ willy - nilly ” in the Oxford English Dictionary is from 1608. The Barnhart Concise Dictionary of Etymology says it’s a contraction of “will I, nill I” or “will he, nill he” or “will ye, nill ye.” The word “nill” is from the Old English “nyllan,” a combination of “ne” (no) and “willan” (will).”
