Oh yeah, my Dad used to sail between South Pacific islands and take passengers on occasion. He had some interesting encounters along the way. Even took some lepers to a leper colony one time. The only people he wouldn’t take were Mormons. That was after two trips with Mormon missionaries aboard his boat. He said they were the worst. Total hypocrites devoid of morals to be avoided at all costs. A lot of booze, gambling and abuse of the local women and girls. The last place he dropped them off he tipped off the Chief and if those guys had stepped out of line then it probably would have been curtains for them, and they would have deserved it.
The father of one of my friends from the States became a Mormon. He left the family after selling their house and fucked off to Salt Lake City with all their cash never to return. Leaving his mum with three kids and no home.

You cannot label mormons solely with that because white American Christianity is all encompassing in regards to that but yes, Mormons are a pretty white bunch overall.
I have admitted this before on here but I was baptised mormon at an early age during a period while my Dad was searching for whatever he was searching for, maybe some spiritual/life meaning. It was a fairly harmless time and place, nothing of note but like any religion, I saw through it very quickly. It meant nothing to me, made no sense and I didn’t understand why people were so gushy about this guy jesus. Lots of nice people around, the missionaries decorated our house when we moved and couldn’t afford to furnish it yet. The Bishop bought us a car. Lots of lovely help from well meaning people but even after all that, I just saw these people as lost deluded people looking for something to belong to, especially a bunch of midlands folk looking towards a US based religion. Madness.
Knowing more about how the religion came about and how others came about too, it just solidifies my opinion on all religions. The mormon foundations are fucked up though, truly. Lots of typical men wanting power over people, gaslighting, putting the fear up folk for respect and money. Same old story.
The series Big Love with Bill Paxton is actually a good watch even if they went all Lost with the ending.

That wasn’t a run of the mill thing, that was a friend helping a family on their arse so don’t use that fact to make judgements on a whole bunch of people.
I didn’t make that point to show that Mormons are a good bunch, I made that point to show that there are good people that can get sucked into religion. Buying us a car wasn’t on a mormon memo it was genuine help from a good person regardless of their odd faith.
Judge mormons… American mormon teachers specifically on being weird corrupt, power hungry, sexist, controlling men by all means but all these fucked up things that mormons do are not what is taught in sunday school or in chapel, they are terrible human traits and religion is a way and an excuse to exercise them. The mormon religion is basically a new version of christianity, made up to fit a new set of leaders who wanted a piece of the power and glory that other new Christian sects were getting. The same as any other religion. The way the mormons treated people behind closed doors is born from the prejudices of the humans that created it.
Mormons are fucking crazy but some are cunty crazy and others are just stupidly blind crazy.
what are trying to prove Neddy? if you’re saying that We got a car out of nefarious reasoning and we as a family had to pay back somehow, like the bishop cucked my folks or we were somehow now owned by the mormon church then you’re fucked up! We had nothing to give back, we were broke and my father was desperately trying to make it work for us and we had some help from some good people. I truly believe that the help was from people, not Mormons. By your logic, if they gave their cash away like that with no return they wouldn’t be the richest religion in the world. They are rich because they hoodwink Americans to give them their money. The Mormon religion is fucked, don’t use my experience to prove your point.
