Yeah had to go dig out the mag and it’s this photo, the only thing is the caption says it’s Jeff Taylor, but maybe mislabel? Skin shot it.
In the same TWS mag it has this one as well, with the caption “chemicals or not Tom Penny is one of the greatest skateboarders alive today”

My mind might be playing tricks on me but I was at that session with Jeff Taylor and co in Sattel [SP?] in Switzerland and as fas as I remember it is Jeff Taylor doing the BS smith. He was there with Donny Barley, Ed T and a few others.
The person in the back smith photo is wearing a watch… does Tom Penny even know that mere mortals operate on a system called time?

You’re right, this one first showed up on some geocities pages in those early internet days, and it was claimed as Penny, but the mag even says Jeff Taylor and you were there as well. Damn good back smith by Taylor.

I can, there were way less cameras and so much going on — as I’m sure someone has mentioned how they were the only one really following him around for most of the day at one Tampa comp, for instance, but still had to go grab other footage and would miss things. Like when he tried a b/s nollie flip rolling along the vert platform and into the vert ramp (not landed — he was over it after a few tries).
I’m also sure the now-famous (later) Radlands tricks over the funbox (fs flip to flat, 360 nollie, etc.) were only caught because someone stayed back and didn’t watch the vert comp going on, as he turned up late and did it all while the course was empty. No-one even knew he was even there really.
These could all be stories passed on, adding to the Penny myth though.

At the Flip demo at Prissick I think I might of been the only one to capture on tape (badly) his 360 kickflip turning with it up the euro gap (there was a photo sequence and the caption said something like - no-one else caught this). There were people and cameras for days at that, also no-one filmed Rune’s 360 nollie in the deep end of the bowl that day too (again just a photo sequence).
