Personal photos and feedback

Well went back to the stair ledge spot, this time went fisheye, helped to have a reg skate this time

Fairly sure I could get closer, but happy how this one came out as still had some sky in it

Nice. Any other fish angles? Something from the bottom looking up could look great…

Only other was a mis timed shot from a bit in front, board was flying out a bit and couldn’t guarantee which way lol, no doubt will be back though so defo try out other angles with it

could be good if you push really far into the ledge and tilt the camera awkwardly upwards…So the skater is almost circling 2-3 edges of the frame.

Yeah definitely worth a try next time I visit that spot tbf, having a reg footed skater skate it does help, or goofy going switch, normal goofy with a fisheye wouldn’t to me portray the spot to well up close.

Just depends on the trick, re: stance.
A frontside nosegrind can look dope if you get around the front. Technically still an arse shot but can be banging.

I thought the same.
A goofy skater tailsliding it will open them up to the lens too, maybe.

That is both true yeah, I’m still in a massive learning curve of knowing best angles n stuff so appreciate the help, some of those things when said out loud sound so obvious, yet I never thought of at the time. One mate was trying like a 1 foot push into tail slide so that would look good fisheye from closer up

same angle but front smith is a good one too, dip the nose into the lens

Is it fair to say these are the ‘standard’ for this type of trick/obstacle/photo? Remember the OP is only using natural light ATM so shooting into the sky is a bit of a challenge. I’m not knocking them of course, love to see a nose protuding into the foreground.

@Potatociderphoto I thought the fisheye shot was great, takeoff/landing rule satisfied and the flash of blue sky with the yellow is great. A bit static for me, but as I said before - I’m old and think all skate photo’s should look like the 70s/80s

I started messing around shooting photos a while ago, mainly at work. Shooting fisheye photos is so damn hard. This is pretty much the only one I’ve been happy with

@nut yeah the style you like is going to be something I’m planning to try out as soon as I can, as I do like it myself

Here’s another of my favs, with the puny 1100D and pop-up flash

Tibs at Totton. Gotta get back there soon, I was blown away with the scale of it after hearing many stories about how good it was.

That’s a great shot man. I do need to explore using my flash more, or some other external light source, confidence isn’t there just yet lol

Tibs needs to touch his rail at Totton.
