That’s interesting, BC have done some research that shows chalk is actually really good at inhibiting the virus. I do wonder if the liquid stuff might knacker my hands up less.

If you can go once a week or more you’ll be amazed how quickly finger strength (and other strength if you’re a soft desk jockey) increases, as long as you keep pushing yourself and don’t just keep doing routes with big jugs.

But yeah, it’s ace. Outdoor is great fun too, but needs more investment (and friends who know what they’re doing, ideally).

got myself a membership, girlfriend already had one with the same place so mine came with a nice 30% discount. It’s 5mins down the road from my work so I’m going to try and pop in a few times a week even if only for 30mins.

Still got equipment if anybody wants any.
Rope, couple of really old harnesses, chocs, slings and carabiner etc.
I was sponsored to climb at 12 yrs old.
Used to love going and doing multi pitch in Wales or Lakes.
Spent most weekends in Derbyshire and Yorkshire as they were on the doorstep.

Barely have the time to squeeze in a couple of hours down the gym at the moment! I still have a harness somewhere I think, done a few single pitches round the Dark Peak years ago but that’s about it.

Did some multipitch seacliffs at Gogarth, Anglesey the other week. My favourite spot in the UK, had to climb the last pitch in the dark as we got stuck behind a slow pair ahead of us, I absolutely lost my head being on a sea cliff with no light !

yeah that was an absolute turd

Its pretty much the reason why I’ve never bought any.

Kitten that we got earlier in the year has grown into a cat now and he loves bread for some reason. He doesn’t really eat it, it’s more like catnip to him. When I got back from a run at lunch he’s dragged an entire Warburtons Toastie loaf from the kitchen into the front and torn over half it to absolute shreds. Bread all over the entire room. I was too impressed with his work to get mad really.

Can you get him to do this?

He would have no problem with that.

We’ve just got a dog, and he’s fucking brilliant. Cutest thing I’ve ever seen and generally pretty well behaved for a 8 and a half week old puppy. But since the second day he’s been here I’ve been absolutely riddled with anxiety. I don’t know if it’s just a case of jitters, bit of a lack of sleep and wanting to make sure I’m doing the right thing, but it’s really making things difficult. I gave him a hug and cried earlier because I just wanted to feel ok. I’ve never felt anything like it and it’s worrying me. Anyone else felt anything similar?

Edit: should this have gone in the mental health thread? Dunno, just latched on to the pet chat

I’ve been thinking of getting a cat and so my insta explore page is now filled with cat tiktok vids for some reason and I watched a clip yesterday of a cat putting his paw on the shoulder of a guy to cheer him up and I fully started to well up.

Definitely a sign that this year is getting to me

Edit. Re mental health I think it’s to be expected given everything we’re all dealing with. My anxiety has been a nightmare the last few months, just every day in my chest for no particular reason.

2 free flea infested cats here if you want them. Little fuckers caused me so much grief over the last few weeks. 150 quid for jabs and 2 seperate hour long cross city drives for the privelege.

Cats are great therapy, they’re relaxing and also fucking hilarious.

We ended up adopting another kitten because we thought Parker needed a friend, our old female cat wanted nothing to do with him. So we got Hairy Pete a few weeks back and the two of them are inseparable. Either just chasing each other round, play fighting or just cuddled up together. It’s awesome.

Not sure what kind of cat I want yet. Don’t like black cats. Obvs I’d prefer a dog but not really set up for a dog. I’ve looked after my mates British shorthair a few time’s which was ace, but not sure I can justify that amount of money given current economic climate…

Rescues are basically free. Cat food doesn’t cost too much.

Microchip cat flaps are about 80 quid plus paying a real man to install one (40 quid ish). Free if you’re capable.

It’s the vets that are the real bandits. I absolutely fucking hate them.

The real issue with cats is how much they tie you down. If you have to go away for more than 2 days you have to rely on someone to feed them.

Since I had a baby my cats have barely had a look in which has led to them brining in loads more dead and alive birds and mice than normal. It’s so much easier to deal with when they’re dead…

Cats are fucking horrible but adorable at the same time.

Yeah i always said I hated all cats. But in reality, I just like a very small percentage of cats.

I’m gonna working from home for the next 6 months, or if i lose my job, will just be in the flat all the time anyway. And living alone it’d be nice to have something running around that I’m also forced to look after. I’m a bit scared about a cat potentially trying to chase the pigeons on the balcony and jumping off but hopefully they’re not that dumb

It was unbearable. Dan Wolfe hiding in the toilets from what I remember.

If cats and dogs were ten times their size, cats would be illegal and dogs would still be man’s best friend. Maybe I’m wrong but, at the end of the day, that’s just my opinion, man

I just like standard cats rather than specific breeds. I hope they don’t go the way of dogs where everyone buys £2k pedigree things and half of them are inbred and fucked.
