Pointless Topics

Hmmm… keeping to the topic, in the song itself, we can all agree it’s meant as a put down, slur, right? No-one is out to cause offence by having a cig or eating food, collecting fire wood, in the same way ‘chink-chink’ refers to a sound and not race. In the song it is used as an insult, yeah?

yeah it is used as an offensive word but you have to accept that it was written in a different time and used as a part of real life narrative. So it’s authentic even if the actual offence is wrong by todays standards.

I’m sure gay people weren’t a big fan of the word back then too.

I nearly put at the end that it’s always been wrong but awareness was 0 outside of the offended.

It’s a song about an argument between two smackheads. (Or one alcoholic and a smackhead?) I think the language is realistic and thus allowed.

Otherwise we’d only be allowed songs about nice things like ponies and flowers. Perhaps sung as a dialog between two smackheads, but only if they don’t talk like smackheads. I’m not sure.

Whether it should be played before the watershed uncensored is a different question.

Sorry, couldn’t help it hehehe (so salty)

Just stirring the pot - you think we should rename the “fakie bump to nose bonk” but it’s stupid that this song should get censored? How come?

Not a dig (well maybe a little) but I’m genuinely interested

BTW I agree with you, I don’t see the fuss about this song. But I didn’t see the fuss about the trick name either.

hahaha

I love winding you up

Remember that totally-not-a-reseller that came in and started some threads asking people for old clothes? Did anybody give him any shitty early-2000s Hook Ups t-shirts?

Obviously he isn’t a reseller, because he said he wasn’t, but just in case anybody has some money they need to flush down the toilet, he’s got you:

Oh that’s good then.

Where do these delusions come from?

He’s going to have those on eBay for a lllllllong time

Reminds me of people who’d come into my old work and talking having original Beatles records. Like, from the time.

Some number-one record that only a few million other people even bought.

Old ≠ valuable.

It’s the same as having the first press of Shania Twains massive selling debut. It does not matter whether it was first press, it’s still bargain bin stock.
I can understand First edition books because lots of the time things will be different, covers, edits etc but most music is pointless.
To be fair to those dudes, Th Beatles are sort of collectable and they did have rarer versions of certain releases but you’re right, there is too much of that way of thinking around for everything that is sort of oldish.

You take that back you philistine.

Don’t burn Shania like the please.

Doesn’t impress me much.

Ebay is the worst, its peoples own valuation of their own crap, take board resellers at the moment. A deck comes out and they have it up on ebay for twice or three times the price, and a lot of the time it’s still in the shops for original price rrp.
