Yeah that’s it.
Yeah it must be due a rewatch, thinking about it. But the bit with the kid on the beach would kill me even more now. Find anything like that hard to take since becoming a parent.
I find this a really nice thing to know.
Whilst we’re naming films with ‘skin’ in the title featuring beautiful women, I can’t recommend enough The Skin I Live In by Almadovar. Masterpiece.
Under the Skin was indeed grim. Mad to learn about the background of how they filmed it. As far I know, the random blokes she picks up in the car were genuinely not actors and instead just total randomers hoping they’d struck gold with some beautiful stranger.
love a bit of Almadovar. any amount of Penelope Cruz in films is fantastic
Weird, was just about to watch Volver.
great film. and again, Penelope Cruz is an ageless goddess
Making Ty Evans look like a 12 year-old with a Nokia…
That was amazing. Wow.
Yeah this is ace. But to give credit to Robert McIntosh who did the drone shot on Pretty Sweet that was still in the early days and he was one of the first to actually do anything remotely like that and with a machine that he built himself when that sort of thing was not really very easy at all, think clay wheels and rollerskate trucks on a plank compared to a proper board. He also created the Reelsteady video stabilisation software that was probably used to help make this shot look so good.
Big sentence props. Wasn’t really comparing to Pretty Sweet.
Ah, I just assumed because it reminded me of it a lot. With all the pre-planned stuff going on as it flew along.
Him in general, but probably thinking about more recent explorations.
Its a bowling alley bar restaurant theatre? That looks like the best local ever!
I doubt they’ll be having a load of kids birthday parties there.
There was a Reddit thread about it and apparently it’s in Minneapolis.
Next forum meet up then.
Bowling is well under-rated here in the UK compared to the States. It’s ‘done’ so badly here - it’s essentially seen as a backdrop for piss-ups and work-dos. Usually: 2 - 4 cramped lanes; nobody understands bowling etiquette; men tend to just play this sort of tangential alpha-male game of ‘how powerfully can I chuck this?’; women seem to adopt this bizarre approach of making themselves look like they’re trying to intentionally bowl with bad form through dangerous body contortions…
It’s all weird. In the US it’s such a sick place to meet up with friends and kick it for the night at your own pace. There’s none of this each game must be squeezed into 20 minutes bullshit you get here either.
Agreed.
It’s also hugely expensive in the UK compared to the US despite it being poorly run as you say.
The old US vs UK skateparks saga rumbles on:
