What should you do when a friend (male, around 30) reveals they have started listening to Jordan Peterson and is having some thoughts about this ‘woke’ stuff?
Had too many friends buy into his garbage.

It’s rough but I honestly don’t think you can, not without appearing as one of “them” that he’s being told to rally against. In my workplace for example I’ve come to accept I’ll never change anybody’s mind no matter how reasoned or how provable I am, so either fuck them off or just decide that by being around those perspectives in real life I’m not in an echo chamber so my own perspectives are more valid as a result, if that makes sense? I know that’s only a workplace context, it’s a way harder decision to make if that’s after years of true friendship and the person you thought you knew seems to have irrevocably changed all of a sudden.

Anytime the news gets mentioned in my work, my boss pipes us about only watching GB news now because they are the only ones without an agenda apparently, I just leave it. It isn’t worth it.

Of course, but when people explicitly start a conversation with you about things you disagree with it sucks.
I dunno man, I struggle to keep associating with people who are evil, support evil or are fucking idiots. Its weird having a chat with someone about game of thrones or whatever when you know they’d have been a nazi party member in the 1930s

Yeah, I’ve never been able to separate someone’s politics from their personality. How can the two things not be linked?

I think most people fall into the latter category. My friend isn’t a bad person but it is clear he doesn’t know enough to make an informed opinion on a lot of these issues or how to treat sources with greater scepticism. He doesn’t follow the news so Peterson is his entry point into a lot of these political correctness/identity issues.
My dad got into this hole and you can’t talk to him anymore. He’s absolutely demented.
He’s split up with his chakra realigner reiki healer missus who was feeding him all this shit so maybe he’s gone a bit deprogrammed now.
I’d steer them away from it if you can as sharp as you can.
