Blunt to nose slap feels so good
fucking hell some holier then thou opinions on here. like youve not all broken the law, speeding, dropping littler, skate modifying (vandalising) spots, nicking stuff, running red lights, smoking weed etc.
ive done all of the above and more and so has everyone else to most degrees. possibly some people need to leave their high horses outside and get over their supposed moral high ground attitude. is nicking a 50p mars bar worse than driving 50 in a 30mph zone not, they are both illegal so maybe preach a bit less.
ive done lots of naughty shit, who give a fuck, ive never hurt anyone so who cares
If something goes missing don’t get your knickers in a twist if I think you might be to blame, as you openly admit stealing is fine. So don’t get offended when you get accused of nicking something from another skater at a spot, or if a pack of bearings go missing in the skate shop and everyone thinks it’s you behind your back. Because it’s cool and everyone should be fine with it.
A pure normie started last week at my company in a proper director role - and I guess he noticed footwear or a logo on a shirt of mine or something and we got talking about skateboarding - he reckons he was a local at radlands back in the day and saw tom penny get ejected from a comp for smoking weed.
Should probably let the stealing debate lie, but wanted to chirp in with one thing:
I used to work in Tesco years ago, you got your basic pay then you could get up to 20% more on top and each 5% was based on something, so if you serve a mystery shopper and don’t ask if they have a Clubcard you lose that 5%, if the store doesn’t get their target you lose 5%, and the krux one… if the store stock loss threshold is broken then you lose 5%…
I didn’t ever get that 5% because the store was right by a homeless hostel and would get absolutely rinsed every day, always the booze because it was stupidly right by the door…The day I started I ran after someone stealing some wine, got it back and when I arrived back in the store out of breath the manager told me not to bother trying to stop thieves, so I’d just watch people stealing, would lose out on pay and there was nothing I could do… So to stay stealing from corporations like Tesco is a victimless crime, it really isn’t.
Have had the debate about the food bank boxes in Tesco however… if you put something in there from the store and you haven’t paid for then you haven’t technically stolen it because it hasn’t left the store, you’ve just facilitated Tesco giving it to a foodbank… Whether this is morally something you should do is up for debate…
I actually only nicked 2 cans that one time, it was really daft as I’m in my 40s and have the money, and would feel like a right tool if I got caught.
Sucks the staff get penalised for shrinkage
Just reading the posts against it above and none of them come across like that in my opinion. To me the piracy comparison is a good one, if you’re going to openly admit you do it then call it what it is, it’s stealing and it’s not right. It’s trying to justify it that’s laughable.
It’s only illegal if you get caught.
Seriously though morals are not as simple as right and wrong. Society is immoral. Or at best amoral.
Don’t worry dude I just pick pensioners pockets now cos my mates work in the skateshop. We nicked a toilet roll from a bar once so they know for sure I would murk the full till soon as I got the chance! Oh hindsight!
I’m not justifying shit. I couldn’t care less what people think. It’s the moral high ground of the people looking down their noses judging and branding people as thrives like they are so pure and above judgement. Looking at their phone while driving, speeding, smoking weed or vandalizing property to skate it, whatever . like they are any better just because they never ate a mars bar walking round tesco. The double standards here are a joke. Especially as a lot of the people lookimg down their noses have posted equally questionable behaviour on the old forum like it was a badge of honour.
Just thought of a funny example too. I pay 20 quid a month for photoshop. Probably the only person I know who doesn’t have a cracked (stolen) version. Poor adobe developers must be getting shafted.
I once knew a guy who had illustrator, photoshop, and Final Cut Pro, all cracked. Thousands of pounds a year in stolen contraband. Turns out he was actually one of the dead presidents in Point Break. Didn’t surprise me.
I’m not sure people are actually doing that? What’s being called out is the mental gymnastics people are doing to pass off stealing from supermarkets as some kind of act of noble defiance that should be made legal. No one’s saying they’ve never done anything against the law, but rather if they do they can see it for what it is
I always saw it as used cracked to learn on, pay once you’re pro. Unofficially they must see the benefit in people using their stuff to learn on? Maybe not
I remember they took down the code servers for CS2 I think it was, so if you didn’t mind having an old version you could download it and didn’t need it cracked, so they obviously didn’t mind that…
I feel like a rarity in that I don’t pirate anything, I buy all my music, movies and software… I don’t even have music streaming because of how much I know artists get screwed over, but its getting increasingly hard to buy physical copies of stuff…
You’re assuming alot here Tel. So even though I don’t steal, I look at my phone while driving?
I’ll tell you that I don’t own a posh phone and I don’t drive and that crime is something that fucks me off more than most, because people think that they are too good for it to be a problem.
And if you read my posts, I freely admit that I may come across as i’m on a high horse but I don’t care, I believe some things to be wrong and it’s as simple as that, it has nothing to do with that I think i’m better than you, that’s all in your head, you have made that up based on your complex. It’s not my fault that you don’t think you’re as good as other people deep down so you do what is expected of you.
Just for the record, I don’t believe that about you, i’m just throwing out wild assumptions like you did.
Also, I try and keep things civil, decent and open to other opinions even if others are less reasonable but on this occasion I think i’ll go off piste for a second and say, Tel… you might have some funny stories and have been entertaining but my god you’re a fucking arsehole. Grow up you fucking man baby.
New ‘Athletico Mince’ pod up.
Only thing more illegal is a blunt rock and roll… in fact the illegal mini ramp thread could be wayyyyyy longer than a street thread… I think I don’t like skating tranny for that reason, you’re kinda forced to skate with whatever stinker may be at the ramp at the same time… And there are many, many ramp illegals… Anything where you faff about on the deck…
Those are fairly niche things to say to be fair… Not that Penny would ever have been kicked out for smoking weed mind you, maybe he got booted for not smoking enough haha
I remember when Ches was trying to organise a skate event in Poland for Converse and the regional marketer there suggested a mini ramp. He rolls his eyes at me and said ‘kook magnet’. So true.
