Round our way if you lent that up again. St the garden wall it would be gone in 2 hours. Someone would take it as a DIY project, or make a gate in their allotment with it or something.
Not a bad idea, might stick it outside Monday to see if it goes anywhere.
I’m watching the Simple Session comp as a mate is skating in the finals and some dude who takes part in the comp is called Beaver Fleming.
Super weird comp by the way, the course is extremely X-Games 1997 and I’ve never heard about 95% of the dudes there.
Our very own @Mark is probably on the mic
Nah he isn’t, it’s Rune and another guy I’ve never heard about either.
I’m not doing the YouTube commentary this year, they’re using Rune instead, fair enough!
The competitors there are very much in their own lane and you don’t see them much outside of our/their usual bubble.
Standard is good though. You do get plenty of unique styles out there.
Beaver Fleming is an example. Full on nitro circus dude, always has a helmet and the main trick he does are backflips. Which of course the crowd goes nuts for so he does them loads and it gets him points. Never heard of him outside of this comp but I think he’s pro etc.
The comp is run by a couple ex bmxers and so is the park designer so it’s heavily oriented to that crowd. Everything is massive.
Yeah the park is as BMXesque as it gets.
Some very unique styles indeed, you wonder how some of those guys even exist as pros considering how small that bubble is. How many contests like this are there every year? Not many I suppose, yet guys like Danny Leon seem to live off skateboarding. So bizarre. Not dissin’, but those guys are underground even in skateboarding! Unicorns with Monster logos.
Greyson’s drop in was nuts
Spent the weekend at the beach. Now doing my usual skimboard googling wanting to be Neil Blender
“a lot of bruises” is right in my limited experience of skimboarding.
Oh yes, you’ll take some slams. In the past five years, other than a harsh mtb trail crash which resulted in me getting knocked out, dislocating a thumb, breaking my nose, some ribs and my sternum, and then badly tearing some ligaments/tendons in my ankle whilst skating towards the end of last year, (which is still not 100% fixed), I have genuinely fucked myself up more skimboarding than doing anything else. It’s hella fun though.
I got one a few years ago with good intentions. Not been to the sea since. The midlands is rubbish for seaside activity.
You could always give that urban skimming a crack - there was an old M:Zone ad with a photo of Curtis skimming a big puddle in a car park. Or set off the sprinklers in your local indoor.
Hmmm just seen a job pop up for Head of Ecommerce at Chelsea FC.
Gunna apply, won’t get it, but interested to see how far I could potentially get in the process, and always good to get some practice in.
Would be a secure job when they offer you a 9 year contract.
Pahaha, reckon you could ask that as a joke?
Ha!
I bought one that’s basically been a really big shelf in my shed since I got it home.
I guess you guys have been buying little wooden ones, otherwise that’s a pricey makeshift shelf you’ve got yourself there.
