I started drawing from a skater doing a no comply over a hip in Barca. I just can’t find the original. If anyone could guide me to the original image I’d be grateful.

I think one of my old mates had a hand in building this.

to sugarcane is pretty nuts

Thank you so much! Which mag and edition is that?

I knew it was Simon Isaksson. But couldn’t find the original, nice one.

I reckon it’s out of necessity due to the angle of the bank (still fucking mental of course)

No worries. I knew the photo but I thought it was Tyler Surrey for some reason. Then thought I know it’s a Sour rider and just chucked out Simon Issaksson and bingo, up it popped. Took less than a minute. The photo that came up is from Stoops Mag. I must have seen it elsewhere originally. Free Skate Mag would be my guess.

The cynic in me thinks it was an accident

It’s cool. Thanks for uploading the image, I’ll finish my drawing from that. Stoops mag looks good.

Yes, I thought Tyler Surrey too. Had to be one of the Sour crew or Sour adjacent.

Unless Stoops are using Free photographers, typefaces and designs, surely that’s from Free?

It is from Free (issue 34 contents page). Just the pic came up here.

Ah, I see what you mean. Thought you meant a physical copy of Stoops.

Would love some advice from any folk here who consider themselves artists.
I’m taking the plunge into taking my art more seriously, exhibitions etc. How to go about it, whether to do a website, socials etc.
Didn’t feel like I was in a position to call myself an artist so I really needed something to legitimise it for me to make that mental leap into considering it a thing to pursue past a hobby where only I see the results. Shortlisted for a piece at the RA summer exhibition has been enough to give me hope that I could go for it, even if it’s not selected for the final exhibition.
Like with my music, I struggle with selling myself and have so many mental hurdles to jump to make me feel like i’m doing it correctly and it all feel right.
If anyone has any advice i’d be stoked to get peoples persepctives.

My wife rents a space in a big shared studio which has led to her being included in a few exhibitions there and in some other spaces, which then led to being asked to run some classes in one of the other venues. Maybe trying to get in with some kind of collective could lead somewhere?

Depends what your aim is. Becoming more well known by the general public? Becoming more known by the 'right ’ people? Driving people to buy a product? (Prints etc) Media coverage?

Are you looking to sell individual pieces or products based off or around your art work.

Just doing art in the traditional sense really. I want a better life, I don’t want to have a day job anymore and I don’t want for much so I think if I can make ends meet doing things I enjoy and just live a simple life working on what I want in the day. I’ll be doing art and making music anyway but i’d love to have my life revolve around that and my kids instead of having to work and then do these things as hobbies.
I don’t seek fame or notoriety, a little validation here and there is cool for keeping the fire stoked of course. Just feel that I need to spend more time doing the things I want and progressing in a more fullfilling way.

That’s cool… but what do you mean by progressing? You can progress in your work but if no-one sees it… no-one will know. If you want to make money from it, how do you see that? Prints? Commissions?
