I’ve heard some shit over this years but this is some next level diarrhoea.

Love that afterpoint
Is hop king beer actually available to buy? I presume they are based in the south east.
Not that I’d drink it.
It’s like drinking cheap but good lager, but it costs more.
Obviously people should do what they want, we all do it for the fun, blah blah blah…
BUT I will forever be of the opinion if a skateboard isn’t rolling then it’s not fucking skateboarding is it?! Standing on a carpet in a garage isn’t skateboarding, faffing about on a trampoline isn’t skateboarding, even doing street plants if you don’t roll in or away… isn’t skateboarding. Skateboarding involves the act of rolling on a skateboard.
We all remember when they made Backflip Tim (c) pro:

Missed that one because the graphic was so staggeringly original. I must have looked at it and subconsciously thought, “Woah, a tattoo-looking skull and snake? Surely the most radical thing I’ve ever seen in my life, and way beyond the realm of bog-standard skateboard graphics that you’d find on a Sports Direct complete” and just carried on as normal, oblivious.
Palace’s pro-boards are ugly, last-board-on-the-wall shit that no-one wants to skate.
Their videos would be great if you could see the skateboarding through the sock over the lens of the 1980s dadcam they’re shot on.
Are hypebeasts normal people? I don’t see anyone else scrabbling to buy the latest flourescent Palace x Umbro collab they’ve shat out.
The Hop King guys maybe clueless at best, but at least their park is open, the beer is cheap and drinkable and their team is a nice containment vessel for their weirdo riders.
I like Palace boards. Got one here (albeit 2 years old) and will get another one when I go back to London for my UK setup
Are you still up from last night? Christmas night out gone wrong? That just isn’t true.
I’m definitely grumpy that work keeps coming my way today, so maybe I’m venting, but out of UK brands I see way more Skate Cafe/Lovenskate/Death decks under peoples feet than Palace ones.
Depends where you live I guess.
When he finds out what wanking is he’s going to put that shed to a much better use.
Are ‘ironic named micro brewery beer aficionados normal people?’
Probably not. Is Hop King an ironic name? I thought it was just sort of lazy. It’s no worse than calling yourself the Palace Wayward Boys Choir though.
That’s not what I meant but there’s this fad of craft beer in cans with ‘cool’ graphics that is just as stupid as limited edition sneakers or whatever hypebeasts like.
Both kooks just different types of kooks.
Their customers are plainly not aficionados, since neither product is anywhere near as good as what else is easily available. It’s just an easy way to show you’re into ‘craft’ beer and skateboards (two trendy things) without having to actually risk trying to understand either. Like when any normal skate company makes non-skate stuff with their logo on it… Always shit.
Perfectly summed up what I wanted to say.
Hey, it’s not like they made a CBD beer or anything. Oh wait.
Whatever, at least they have cheap, drinkable beer and an (almost) free park indoor park in central London that’s open 7 days a week. In terms of “damaging skateboarding”, cashing in or whatever I think they’re pretty harmless.
Palace have a 2 Cool 4 Skool attitude, horrible expensive clothes and (subjectively) ugly, albeit affordable, boards. They bring more to the world of fashion than they do to skateboarding.
I don’t think anybody said they were damaging skateboarding; they’re not involved much and the people who care about what they do don’t seem to be the types who cared two years ago or will care in two years.
I get that it’s fashionable to be ‘over’ Palace, or to think they aren’t about skateboarding, but c’mon, everything skate-related they do is fucking incredible. Loads of the clothes are banging too, it’s not all rugby pyjamas.
