Nice - lucky someone. Staploe (or the one I looked at on the map) is 90odd miles from me.

The Wildlife Warden round these parts says over the last few weeks there’s been at least two separate birds heading up and down the coast - Minsmere / Dunwich etc, which is not far from me at all - I hope I get to see one.

Lock up your chickens!!

apparently there’s a reasonable chance that viagra will make your vision turn slightly blue. makes me feel like i’m on a mild pill come up which is quite nice seeing as my mad raver days are well behind me (hopefully)

Comic Sans on the cafe sign too. Goddamn.

Ah cool, I’ve been down to Southwold a couple of times in the last few years and did the walk up to Dunwich and back - nice part of the world.

Will keep my eye out next time I make it down there, would be great to see! Hashtag eagle watch.

Are those the ones they introduced on the Isle of Wight? Apparently they fly over London sometimes. Would love to see one IRL. Saw a Red Kite out on my bike last month.

Red Kites everywhere on M40 between Oxford and Wycombe.

Yeah, they’re notorious bike thieves are red kites.

^^^ that gave me the lols proper

Red Kites are insanely large birds as well. My mate has to keep running out and protecting their huge adult rabbit because of kites circling over head

We went to an urban farm somewhere just outside Heathrow once and they said the kites keep coming and taking lambs out of the field right in front of children. Bet that leads to some expensive counseling in later life

I don’t know if they are TBH. There have been reports of them appearing in various spots around Norfolk and now Suffolk. Getting closer (to me) - I’d love to see one too!

Loads of Buzzards around here these days and the odd Red Kite.

I think they like to take advantage of road kill.

lulz

We’ve got fucking loads of red kites round near me, they reintroduced them and theyve gone mental breeding. They fly down just over houses looking for food

Once walking through Kentish town I saw a bird of prey eating a pigeon and the pigeon was still alive and sort of rolling around for a while. It was quite dramatic. Stopped to take a photo and this old lady wondered what the fuss was about and poked her head round the corner where it was all happening and screamed in disgust and audibly gagged. Then looked at me like a weirdo for taking a photo.

Could that have been a red kite?

You get Cranes in my parents garden sometimes (as they have a pond), when driving to Redcar there is a field that is sometimes full of them too. Always looks rad as fuck.

More likely a peregrine falcon, they nest on high buildings and eat pigeons a lot. Kite would be more rural I think (kites are massive too)

If you’re interested in UK falcons I would massively recommend “The Peregrine” by J.A.Baker. Incredible piece of nature writing.
