Shoes

Other than the toe detailing the Pennywise the Clown x Cinco de Mayo vibe’s crushing it.

Ben was on Converse, 100%.

They look like something a really good Romanian beggar would wear.

Love Vaughan Baker’s footage from my town Droitwich when the banks were still here. He was/is so good.

Came across this guy through the other thread here. I’ve not watched all of this as yet but there’s really something smelly about them. And it’s not just the logo.

(On another shoe tip I’ve just retired some Lakai and have started skating a pair of Kalis Vulc. So far so good.)

Yeah, NB do a lot of good stuff for sure. Definitely ticking boxes for me.

I like the Westgates but wouldn’t mind a pair of Tiagos too.

Happy to be called out but from what I’ve seen of NB they didn’t barge in with numeric at the time and doing stuff with Lost Art is nice.

They had shitloads of problems launching, right? Like, their very first season was meant to drop and it just missed deliveries by quite some time. I think a lot of the first line got cancelled.

They also partnered with Black Box to deal with stores for the first year or so, but that didn’t work out.

I don’t know much more than that - or even if all of that is totally accurate - but launching a brand under those conditions would not have been fun at all. It probably felt a lot like it was destined to fail for a long while…

Personally, I think for all the sports shoe brands, they are doing it in a really respectable way and thankfully they haven’t just done the standard and rip off everyone else. They seem to be doing their own thing, which keeps it interesting.

I think this guy is right on the money. There seems to be big cash behind Cariuma and between them and Berrics it’s all starting to come across like the 300 targeted ads you get on social media of t shirt companies selling a lifestyle you’ve never heard of to try and get some wedge out of skateboarding.

Just seems a bit suss when most of the street skaters in the Olympics suddenly seemed to be sponsored by them

The first NB was a fucking shit show.

Shoe finish was terrible, glue everywhere, sizing was a joke even worse than it is now, then the second drop came like 9 months later because of delays.

I fucking rate NB though, their content is always dope and rad shoes.

Cheers - I remember them vaguely coming in and grabbing PJ Ladd. Just had a look at that was 2013 so a fucking rough year for me so no doubt I won’t have taken notice. Started with a broken collarbone on 5th Jan and was pretty shite for most of the year.

Got a pair of the NB 425 All Coasts that I wear to work (not skated them) and I have a pair of the white and gum 1010’s but I don’t dare skate em yet theyre too nice, gonna see if I can pick up a 2nd pair to skate instead. Currently skating Janowski RM Premium’s and their pretty nice, last a lot longer than the Vans I’ve had in the past

I had a pair of PJ’s first shoe. I’m a 9 in pretty much every shoe brand, but I had to go up to 11 in those!

Not much representation from Cariuma in the park final. Are they too cool for ramp skating?

not part of the strategy innit.

yeah if they win a podium it makes them non-core
