I’m a dad, and this is definitely me.
Over the last year I’ve phased out the slightly chunkier éS like the Quattro in favour of slimmer Emericas. Looking at my shoe rack now, all I own are Spanky’s and Wino Slip Cups!
I can’t go for slim trou, regular fit is just fine.
They feel great. The G6 foam in the midsole is nice and cushioning but you can still feel everything.
I actually pimp mine out with the G6 insole, too. Might not be to everyone’s taste but I like a slightly thicker and squishy insole.
The only reason I keep those in good condition is the colour. I’ve got a couple of pairs of the black/White Spanky G6 that I skate, and the Wino Slip Cups which have the same sole.
While we’re on the subject of squishy soles, what does everyone wear to the gym? I usually use my running shoes but they’re too squishy, and I’ve seen people wearing Chucks or Old Skools and stuff, but canvas or suede just feels weird. I don’t go enough or take it seriously enough to justify the insane expense of something like Nike Metcons.
I think shoes made for weightlifting is a gimmick, lots of people take their shoes off for squats and deadlifts, I guess they’re the only exercises where footwear could conceivably matter anyway. So Chucks or cheap pumps are probably alright. Agree on the squishy shoes thing.
Got told off once at the gym (a very long time ago!) for taking my shoes off to deadlift. “Unsafe” not to wear shoes according to the gym bro - like my pair of flyknit runners are going to do anything to protect me if a weight lands on my foot!
I’d go for runners for cardio. Chucks/trainers for everything else. Particularly leg day - you want something as low and flat as possible
Walking around Legoland (Denmark) today and so many people are running Hoka shoes. Like shitloads. When did this brand become a thing? (Sorry, non skate related but slightly relevant content)
