£28 in Wynsors should anyone be after some cheap shoes. First pair of the vans skate stuff. New insole makes a massive difference.

Any time Filas get mentioned I always picture this.

Goofy Boy appeared in 1993, this interview was 1992. Simon was way ahead.

No shit. Which is why Autumn 1992 definitely wasn’t “peak”. It was the very beginning.

someone on FB was crying about Kareem in 20 Shot the other day - stiff landings etc.
i was about to chip in, but realised that people are still watching, despite it being almost 30 years old. judging his 1994 skating with more modern values, shows how far ahead of the curve he was

tldr - bank holiday waffle, SEvans bashing triggered me, heh

Simon arguably may have been a ‘goofy boy’ but he wasn’t Goofy Boy.

Yep. The US version that was completely over the top that came about in late 1993 was the absolute end of that whole thing. Putting Simon, from September/October 1992 in with that is straight up stupid. Simon was absolutely groundbreaking. It just happens that he was miles ahead because him and Ed Loftus had been to SF, seen what was going on, then brought it to London and advanced it even further. Hence why when Simon went back out there he got turned pro.

some GB backstory in the comments here:

It only got called that when it was dying off, because of the Big Brother piece in issue four, at the end of 1993, which was there because of an article in Vogue of September of that year. Nobody called it that at the time; it was only years later when that picture resurfaced that people started calling it that. It’s like calling records ‘vinyls’.

Anyone know what these are like? stiff/nice board feel?

For reference I’ve only skated in Busenitz’s for the last 10 years or something.

I like them but I found sizing is odd - my Knox 440s are larger/wider/more comfy than my normal 440s which pinch a bit. Midway between vulc and cup. Not skated mine yet, but I reckon they’ll be really nice like Aves and will break in quick in the same way. At £36 if I knew they will fit like my Knox 440’s I’d buy them. Get the size right and they’ll be really nice.

Sort of useless, I know, but hopefully some help

Nice one.

I just won 20 quid on the golf so for a net 20 quid or so (w. P&P) I can’t really lose on them.

One of these is a real thing and the other one should be.

Fuck me - no wonder Vans latest CEO shit the bed about falling sales etc.
Is that top one a real shoe?
