Shoes

Yeah their list is highly hypocritical which they point out but don’t slag Nike off for mainly putting out repurposed shoes for skating (in their opinion) then add the NB Andrew Reynolds 480 colour way on their list!?

Our - “Other shoe companies are allowed to do the things we hate Nike for list”

I did the Koston wear test in Berlin once. Was so hungover I slammed on a kick turn in front of heavy hitters haha.

We had to do all the flatland tricks off that app they did. I was fucking useless.

Can’t help feeling like that list is pure SEO keyword stuffing so people stumble on “Best Skate Shoe For Boardfeel” and accidently buy em

Yeah it is and it’s also a purely online shop so I don’t think they’ll be allowed to stock Nike SB.

Whatever the situation I doubt it’s purely their ethical choice not to do so

They do stock Ripndip, Revive and…Triumph Motorcycles??

Mantecas are banging to be fair

Oh, 100%.
They are skater owned…Based somewhere around Notts way.
Just found it quite interesting and worth sharing as it didn’t seem to pull on the usual suspects.

This is a well spicy take coming from Super Eight. The people who run it and work there are all super sound and skate regularly, but the company tends to cater for more vanilla/mainstream skating. Eg. Their team features a mix of Hop King/Revive skaters and Joe Hinson. I also think they stocked a bunch of running shoes when they first started trading, trying to cater for more middle aged skaters.

Maybe they are feeling the pinch more than most now the skate industry is contracting? Perhaps the more casual/returning skater market which blossomed during Covid has vanished, meaning there’s a lot of DCs going unsold.

Also, the mighty 42 shop has the Nike account in Notts and get a lot of the limited Dunk releases so maybe there’s a bit of envy there too. Super Eight picked up the adidas account though.

I think this winter has been slow for retail in general, but it feels like skate hardware sales are particularly low. My guess is that there’s still so much oversupply around that the sale decks are gonna take another year or two to slide out of the market. Also, a lot of new decks are £90+ for the same product with a different graphic so sale product is even more alluring than usual. Bit of a weird transitional period.

The Nike thing is a bit of an industry trope isn’t it? The big bad corporate bogeyman. It’s not without basis in fact, and although I’m kind of on side with them about Nike it’s always a bit of a bad look slagging off any skate related brands that aren’t Route One or RipnDip.

Mega apologies for posting Schrock, but he pretty much says the same thing in this in relation to Revive downsizing:

Damn, outed.

Those Revive boards were just resting in my account!

Not clicking on that. It’ll take months to undo the damage :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Didn’t they make shoes like braille or whatever that literally started at $90 and went to $29.99 in like 3 months

Easily - Note alone have just under 500 decks in their sale section…

Don’t tell people my secret please I’ve been buying boards solely from there for years

And yet, people right now: “I shall start a board company!”

Swiss and Swiss 6 for £45 a set is bargaintastic. Would buy but both my Swiss (only 10 years old) will outlast my legs…

Sorry, shoe thread. I copped brown/gum Half Cabs recently. I don’t need more Half Cabs in any way whatsoever though.
