I like them more in a less lurid colour
A new player in the game:
Decathlon tents and sleeping bags Decathlon?
Looks like it! That site seems to have been around a few years but the actual products are quite recent from what I can tell.
Not that new. They’ve been in the French skate game for a while. They sponsor that one dude Joseph garbaccio and others.
These are from 2022. Getting the standard modern graphic absolutely spot-on.
Not rebranding their skate division seems like a weird/stupid move.
Are they big in Europe? The only physical shop I’ve seen is in Nottingham on the big IKEA retail park.
We got a bow and arrow set from there years ago. Need to dust that off and out some holes in the fence again.
There’s a huge store in leeds too
Yes, I can’t speak for the rest of Europe although I have seen them dotted around, but in France and Belgium they are major sports and outdoors equipment retailers. Everyone shops there. The prices are very reasonable even cheap and the quality is good. Their move into skateboarding makes sense even though it fucks it for real Skateshops who can’t compete in price.
Positive is acting as the gateway to get people skating.
Negative is using their ability to shift more stock cheaper and undermine core shops and brands.
A common argument would be their quality sucks but they’ve done their research are running product on par with whatever cheaper core skate brands are doing eg Powell blanks.
Also they have some legit skaters riding their product and moving the needle so to speak(1)
(1) To paraphrase Josh kalis on a live episode of the nine club the other day, skaters nowadays will need think about moving the needle for their sponsors to make money. Insta hammers don’t carry the same weight as tricks that show innovation, style etc…
Definitely not a very talked about brand here in the us but they don’t look bad
Cupsole looking better then most other smaller shoe brands cupsoles
But those lace flaps will do probably nothing when considering the motion of skating wouldn’t they just be worn downward and defeat the purpose of protecting the laces?
Not bad though I’ve seen much worse
I’ve had a couple of Decathlon decks. They skate pretty well, but also seem to chip and crack quite easily as well. I don’t think they are much better or worse than other cheap blanks. They have started doing some decks with carbon fibre layers similar to the Almost impact ones, I haven’t seen one in the wild though even though my local store has them discounted 40%
I suggest they call themselves ‘Route Two’. I don’t know much about them but on the surface it seems fitting.
Definitely weird as they have a few sub brands already for various things.
Got a decathlon top for running, lovely fit, good quality and such a great price.
Chafed my nips into next Christmas.
I feel their boards will do the same.
They look alright to me.
Do they soften and turn to slippers though?
I had a pair of the converse skate shoes during the Mouse Mariano era and I loved them but they stopped gently hugging my feet after a month or two.
Decathlon is huge
A little look at the I-Path’s, both look nice.
I finally took my REEBOKS to go and skate with and dude… don’t try a tre flip with them… you’ll end up ass up face down on the concrete
