Those Decathlon shoes look like shit. The top of the laces looks mightily uncomfortable and the
sole looks crap too.
Those decathlons, have seen worse.
Innit.
The old brand manager spent years cosplaying the This Is Skateboarding to Stay Gold era.
Still on the hangover from product designed in his era.
Hopefully that’ll be over soon…Fall '25 loking different but good. Spring '26 looking solid.
Those couple of decathlon shoes look like the last embers of legit DVS.
They could look and fit exactly like the first DC Rick Howard but if they’re made by Decathlon and sold in Decathlon they can fuck off.
Isn’t Muska launching a shoe brand - I saw something in his stories? His name/personal brand do carry weight and he’s got a lot of mileage out of the nostalgia boards, but not sure if there’s enough there to launch a shoe company.
Lol what?!
Oh yes. I saw that, too.
As sad as it is, or maybe not for most people but it doesn’t matter about shoes ethics anymore. I guess just about buying what you feel works best for your skating.
If it’s all skateboarders doing everything in a shoe division, then essentially it’s a skater-run shoe company. Look at New Balance, not only the people who work there, but when Numeric appeared it was through Black Box. It’s not like it’s a bunch of non-skating canoeists or something calling the shots.
You can’t justify it all with that. Yeah, skaters have jobs and have a decent say in that facet of the company but ultimately, all these people are just getting is a wage and the perks of being where they are but the money is going upwards, always unpwards. Not saying that these companies aren’t doing some positive things in skateboarding, they all are in various ways, it’s way beyond needing to care who’s who in the game at this point as it’s all been sold out in some way or another, But you can’t just say that Nike SB (for example) is essentially a skater run brand, that’s just fucking ridiculous.
You make skater owned shoe brands sound like they are some sort of skate charities, that just put all their profits back into skateboarding projects and not there for profit too.
The amount of over priced shite shoes I’ve been sold over the years because they were skater owned and I was keeping core is shocking. Skater owned brands have been happy to sell skaters crap for years. That’s why I don’t give a shit about shoes these days and buy what I want.
Again, you’re finding your own narrative in between my lines, every time. Not sure where I implied any of that. Start reading what’s written in front of you instead of building up your own story around it.
Again it fits with everything I said. Do the people running skater owned shoe companies not take all their profits too? And yes a lot of skater owned shoe companies over the years have been in it purely to make a fast buck on shite shoes.
This point is often overlooked.
I didn’t mention what skater owned brands did, and not saying you’re wrong either, I didn’t set my stall out defending what skater owned brands did with their money, I questioned a statement of a couple of people saying the skatebaording part of big sports brands are essentially skater run brands, which I find a bit disturbing.
But i’m not gonna get into this too deeply with you, i’m not up for an argument but do me a favour, start replying to the actual words of a specific post, not a picture you’ve painted yourself based on the first words you see with no context.
If you stop turning every counter argument on a subject into some sort of personal attack on you.
You can attack me all you want, that’s cool if you have a counter argument based on what i’m saying but you find counter arguments that are not in my posts, you argue points i’m not making, that’s all.
The only thing I fight for is for people to actually read the whole picture when someone speaks (not just me) instead of getting triggered by a small part and not seeing where it all goes in context. There are interesting and regular interactions between users and you can see that they are based on historic opinion more than what is actually being said, it is interesting to see. BUT, I am also working on how I personally structure things I say too, I always seem to put the negative or the contrary first and then try and back up my argument afterwards with my points and it seems (with research looking into these biases) that people generally, have already come up with an argument or reply based on what is first said and everything else afterwards is glossed over, even if the information is more important than the former. So yeah, i’m working on stuff.
With many conversations with various people on here going south, I needed to look into why things get so out of hand and why points just don’t get heard properly. There is a science into why we are all talking the way we do online, we are no longer personalities looking for an outlet to talk about something we love with likeminded people, we are now, just walking talking Biases tiptoing around not wanting to be wrong about anything and trying to get a hit of dopamine from a confirmation or two.
It is usually more about expanding on someone’s point than even disagreeing with it. It can be a jumping point into another point that maybe even the original poster wasn’t making but something within their post that was raised innocently and the discussion takes a left turn.
