Probably told this before, but I remember selling a kid some shoes in SS20, and he was fucking stoked on them. Popped them on his feet, then his Dad breezed over and was like “those aren’t done up properly” – he preceded to crank the shit out of the laces. Kids heart broke because his fresh pair of kicks now looked like absolute shit.

Couple of kids round here used to skate those stinking boulala’s with the laces done up tighter than a nuns…
It must be something about Boulala pro shoes that caused people to wrench their laces.
My mate had a pair of these. He replaced the white laces with a novelty purple and black checkerboard pair, and always pulled them so tight I thought his foot might burst.
Wonder if they were really wide or just fit shit

Just ordered the last pair of all black Adidas Matchcourts in size 10. Not worn Adidas in years so hopefully they’ll fit, be perfect for summer work squeezing in cheeky lunch sessions.
Hmm, not so much. Being a size nine always gets you the shitty end of the stick in shoe sales.
Got to admit being sample size was always a bonus

Slam shoe sale was much skate shoe supplier when I lived in London. That and the infamous Slam warehouse sales!!
Utterly, utterly raucous. Like an organised brawl. So much gear went missing during those. But those purple Fresh Jive chinos that used to reappear year after year

There was a bit of an incident where a couple of people got carried away with it. I think there was an unwritten rule that if you worked on the sale, you could fill yourself a bag, but some people got greedy! They were pretty crazy sales. Fairly sure there’s still a stripey Fresh Jive jumper in the back of their storeroom, along side those purple chinos too.
I once ended up with some iPath Grasshopper, in bright white, where the lace holes hadn’t been punched out of them!! Would stock up on snowboard jackets and all sorts.
Some dude down southbank was trying to flog shit after one of those. Got offered a deck with the holes drilled wrong and some dodgy circa samples that had holes drilled in the soles.

Most sample shoes have a hole drilled thru the sole, something to do with customs checking they can’t be put up for sale
