Haha. I wanted to like them
Pop Trading Co. have made an Axion Mariano.
Is this a case of Shoe factories having these plans, molds and dies in their portfolio and when some brand comes along asking them to manufacture a shoe for them they tell them to pick from their catalogue as it’s cheaper than starting a fresh on a bespoke design?
So all these fashion brands charging the earth are being cheap as fuck and regurgitating random mish mashes of what’s already been done. If so, I guess that’s how they end up looking like a skateshoe that’s been dragged through a vat of PVA and some off cuts of some nike air ripoffs by brantano.
Fixed.
It starts off bad and then gets uglier the further you scroll
Skate shoe brands are not charging above £500 a pop, but yeah, skate shoe brands have been terrible in the past 20 years with the whole simple vulc thing granted but previously they have been very innovative. What do you have against skate shoe brands anyway, you’re pretty hard on them. Did a freestyler pogo on your dunks?
jk obv
Oh and Adio (of sorts) are back with a pretty much straight up dunk rippoff
I don’t really know what you mean, I was more just saying how skate shoe companies aren’t really in a position to create much from scratch since they don’t generally own their own factories. Hence all the Half Cabs and Eras that every company churns out for a few cents at a time.
From the outside, yeah, you’re pretty hard on skate shoe brands, any opportunity you say negative things about them and that’s fine, you are into other brands outside of skating and that’s probably pre your skate life. Shoes are pretty cool, I used to love them years ago, even wanted to do shoe design after school. Don’t know where my love went to be honest.
Not having a go but it does read like you have some beef other than their unimaginitive period, even if your digs are jokes. I was interested what it was innit.
This sort of stuff is getting a bit weird now, this is the second Mariano by a random company isn’t it?!
OK, thanks. Good to know.
I’ve been wearing shoes since before I skated, but probably only started caring about them when I was about 12. Still do, it seems.
I don’t know what you mean. I should pretend to like things that I don’t like? Skate shoes made by ‘skate shoe companies’ are abpout as bad as they can be right now. Look at that Joslin shoe, it looks like a Fallen from 2004 or something. Everything else is just derivative and trying to catch up with what Big Shoie Co. is doing, with their technology, their development, their factories, their materials and their budgets, but not managing.
Fuck, even the reissues are all wrong. Obviously that’s the case across the board, but the sale racks are stuffed with those DC ‘slim’ versions, and éS Symbols, or whatever the fuck that thing was.
Oh for crying out loud, they should release some of the Montoya shoes as they actually vaguely original and looked pretty nice.
Ok, these pass.
Well, I don’t think that will happen.

I really liked that weird pointy montoya slipper shoe. Had one pair and couldn’t get any more. Probably the only decent adio ever. I skated quite a few as I would get cast offs and some were horrendous but I went through shoes in days so I couldn’t be too fussy.
If it’s just about their really bad designs over the past 15 years then, it’s warranted and all good, I just thought maybe you had something deeper going on as it’s a pretty frequent occurance. All good man.
Dems practically navy.
I mean they’re a given anyway.
But yes, another good example.
not looking like that they’re not, and they have to be on the right feet. Why can’t shoe dressers/photographers make them look good before they show them off?
I don’t know what that is and it looks bad. And Adio have had their day and should stay dead.
Having said that, if they were to do reissues they should reissue the Kenny Anderson v1 for no other reason other than it was a damn good shoe skate in.
I was just thinking the other day that I irrationally miss Adio and would be reasonably keen to see a comeback of some description. Mostly out of Kenny V2 nostalgia. Also had a Selego V1 and a pair of Nick Dompierre’s pro shoe that I liked too.
Turns out I am not keen. Not keen at all.
