Fair play - I just think those long drawn out parts worked so well because you needed to sit with it. You had to sink slowly as the fear built up around characters. Otherwise, what followed for all parties involved wouldn’t have been so high stakes.
Someone mentioned The Detectorists in another thread and I think that is a good example of a show which uses space within the episodes to create a feeling (Obvs a very different one), rather than a constant hammering of content.
“The axe forget, but the tree remembers.” stuff was probably the most dialogue driven Star Wars ever - and thats how they gave space - so I get that it felt odd. Personally, I thought it was a real high point.
Adding to this, I really hope they revisit Andor’s mother in the last couple of episodes. She’s got something cooking, and I enjoy the chemistry she brings to the story and relationship with Andor/others.
Yeah, get to say their goodbyes, but it’s what the Empire are counting on and he can’t leave B2EMO alone if she passes. That droid is too rad not to see again, haha.
New one, also banging.
That tractor beam bit was incredible.
One episode to go now…My guess is it’ll end with this raid where whatshisface and the 30 are all killed by the ISB and the ISB are all happy…but mummys boy and Dedra team up reckoning otherwise…and Mon Mothma, Andor and all the rest start to run.
I’m thinking the big Luther reveal is that his cane is hiding a lightsaber. He’s not a Jedi (or if he is, he left the order a long time ago), but he likes his Kyber crystals and he’s so focused in stressful situations that he might well be force sensitive.
I feel like if he was a Jedi we’d have heard of him, the show has been great at sticking to SW cannon, while being able to write a bit of its own. The Kyber crystals and his ship having what looks like some sort of Lightsaber tech is intriguing though. He will know a lot about Jedi history through the things in his shop. Maybe force sensitive. Him escaping the tractor beam was great. If you listen to the theme of the show it adds a new instrument each show to tell what is coming, this one now has added war drums… so a big show down is coming, excited to see the last one but also don’t want it to end.
They were on about how they hate the Empire for just turning up, stripping planets and polluting all the natural resources (as they were fishermen and the waters were how they made their living). Why the helped them escape.
I thought they sounded like the ‘Worth one portion!’ Alien from The Force Awakens (Simon Pegg‘s one) to start with.
Yeah the quad jump ship they were going to steal from them was also in force awakens in unkar plutt’s junk yark, I thought it might be a younger version of him perhaps with one that looked a bit like nick frost. Bummed there’s only one more episode left, but they’ve just started filming season 2.
I must say I’ve been blown away by this series, when Disney announced it along with all the other star wars IP I thought it would be the weakest of the lot, Obiwan seems totally dumb in comparison now, a lot of missed opportunities. It wil be interesting to see if the new Acolyte series will be similar in tone with Andor.
I’m glad they didn’t go over the top in the last one. The funeral scene was great. The music (the theme music too?), the crowd doing it their way and The Empire officers on the ground not being sure whose orders to follow, shoot, don’t shoot? Which lead to the crowd being able to get a strong foot hold at the beginning of the riot. Everything was tied up but left open for season two… best Star Wars TV yet!
Not a fucking chance those Mandalorians could take down that giant ankylosaurus croco-whale thing with some wrist cables.
And about that whole removing your helmet thing. Why didn’t he just tell the Armourer, “No, I didn’t take off my helmet” when she asked him. Would’ve saved a ton of trouble.
