Do it! Have thoroughly enjoyed my winter spot explores in The Canaries last couple of years, Alicante sure will have some hidden gems
this came up on youtube, very distracting
That fountain is a lot of fun to skate.
Did that race track make an appearance in a RAD article bitd? I have a vague recollection of something like it.
Anyhow, looks…
There was a ramp in Crowthorne mentioned in Thrasher, August 1989 - belonged to somebody called Howard Keasey. Could be that?
Also, the Latimer Road ramp was actually on Crowthorne Road…
It wasn’t Thrasher I was thinking of. I’m sure of that. I was hoping my old memory circuits might start to work and at some stage I’d have a clearer idea of what/where/when it was. They haven’t . So I don’t.
Pretty sure it was a RAD scene article that hit a chord with me. It was some rural spots in woods and the like. There might have even been a Stand By Me style shot of a bunch of skaters wandering along the race track towards the end of the article - equally, there may not have been.Difficult to say really.
Having a quick browse through RAD covers in order to jog the memory didn’t work either. It could have been issue 77 but maybe not. It doesn’t matter. I’m probably just mixing up a load of unconnected things, Grandpa Simpson style. Cheers for having a stab at it though. If all becomes clear at some point I’ll chime back in again.
It does now, this is going to drive me mad.
Issue 77 had the big concrete article, but it was all skateparks - Knebworth, Rom, Harrow, Kettering… All the concrete grandads.
I’ll try to figure it out.
Just been out for a quick surf. Whilst out there the words ‘Dead Cow Ramp’ popped into my head. I think that’s the article with a derelict racing circuit photo in it. I may well have muddled up a lot of the details and I’m not sure the the above race track is the one from that article though. No idea which issue that was either. I do remember hoping to one day stumble upon a spot like it by sheer fluke. Never did though.
That seems to have stopped my mind from going round in circles trying to figure out where the memory was from. Hope I’m right and hope it also stops you from being driven mad digging in the crates trying to find an article that may or may not have existed given my super vague description.
My mate said it’s a on an old test track so that sounds like it.
That’s the one I was thinking about. Amazing!
I could picture it the article, but Dead Cow made me think of wooden minis. Nice one!
Check out GeoWizard here. Very nice.
i skated that a long time ago. crumbly, faster than expected
Nah the Penny one was higher
Same place though, right? Different version and pre-roof?
Yep that’s right
Are you thinking of the dead rabbit (?) ramp under a railway arch near Southampton built by Don Brider and others?.
