Wife got me this mehring print of John igei from that old aesthetics ad for Christmas. Only just got time to frame it and put it up. Well stoked on it
Saw Botch last night and loved every bit of it, glad I didn’t skip this one in my usual daze of scrolling Insta.
Par this lurgy kicking my arse and the trip I had booked to go up Norff not happening, I’m looking forward to doing fook all this weekend.
Had a good day pottering about and finished off by taking my daughter to the local park for a roll. She really enjoyed scooting about and there was a good bunch of locals down there. My back is holding up too.
This morning, at the ripe old age of 42, I finally passed my driving test. So anyone living in the Birmingham area might want to stay off the roads for a bit.
I was 44 when I passed mine, couple of years ago. I thought it would be th weirdest thing ever but it felt normal very quickly. While I managed to get by over the years, it’s changed my life driving now.
Props!
Yer passed when I was 30, have no idea how the fuck I survived before
28 here.
And yeah, no idea how I survived so long without it.
Fuck yeah. If youre 42 does that mean you get a proper car instead of a £300 hot hatch?
Honda Jazz > Chipped Golf GTI for my second car haha. Now I’m 34 driving around in a 20 year olds car haha.
Vauxhall Nova 1.2 Merit here
Had to drive from Sussex to Newquay the day after the test, with four 17 year old pissed mates in the car for our holiday. The whole holiday was reliant on me passing my test first time.
The stress that, that would induce these days is unimaginable but it was just accepted that id pass and we’d go lol.
It was so long ago that Mt. Hawke was only outdoors.
Still driving my first car. It’s starting to have a few niggly issues mind.
What did you get?
It’s just a Seat Ibiza 1.4 standard thing. Been a good little learner to be honest
I honestly assumed everyone passed at 17 so that makes me feel so much better. Do skateboarders generally pass later? I was spending all my money on boards and shoes at 18. I did by a banger at 20 though in a failed attempt to motivate myself - 1981 1ltr fiesta. I put pepper pot alloys and a spoiler on it and tried to pass it of as an XR2
I was 28. Cars are a massive pain and drain on cash, but well worth the freedom they provide, especially with kids.
Yer I had the Jazz until I’d pinged the bumpers enough that it was verging on being on annoying to sell. Got £1000 for it.
Yeah, we’ve got 3 kids so it’s become pretty much essential. We’ve already got a huge people carrier. Only cost £150 to get me in the insurance though. Just got to try not to fuck up my wife’s no claims.
Yer, late passer here. 43 or 44.
It’s not a definite rule but it seems all the rural kids were driving from 13, and all the city kids never had the need for it till later.
Yeah, my friends and I all passed our driving tests by 18 out of necessity, I guess. I don’t think anyone had more than ten lessons as, like you said, we could all (sort of) drive anyway. I must admit I do still find it a little surprising when I discover adults over 30 who don’t hold a driving licence. Mind you it’s nowhere near as unexpected as when you find out actual grown ups you know can’t swim or ride a bike.
