Give it a go, I always thought it was pretty uneven really, there were the monster of the week episodes that were often decent but then there were also loads that just dragged along the pretty tedious overarching story. No idea how it would hold up without any nostalgia.
I rewatched a few years back and took a lot more away from it than my initial younger viewing.
IIRC they wanted to end it after serious 4 (?) after the film was released but the ratings jumped up and the higher ups pushed it through to milk it so the active background plot kind of goes out the window until they pull it back in the final series of the original run. But even the ‘for the sake of it’ episodes are still just fun sci fi/detective filler

And this, (Norliss Tapes), would have been so good if it had become the series it was supposed to have been. The film length pilot, posted below, is really good - can’t go wrong with Roy Thinnes, (David Vincent from The Invaders ). Chris Carter, (not the Alien Workshop guy, the X Files one), stated that this was heavy inspiration in the creation of the X Files.
