Stoked!

Absolutely mate, been thinking about that for a while now.

I love winter but I need daylight.

Saw the Northern lights.

Lovely stuff.

Quite faint compared to some snaps I seen, but hey still rad.

Especially considering every time every jammy bugger’s gotten to see them in their own garden and I was away or inside at a gig haha. It’s sick I got to see em.

Had a rad spot just outside Hafnarfjƶrưur, which was only a 20 min drive from our gaff.

Double stoked.

In contrast, I moved house last week and I’ve cooked dinner on the bbq 3 days in a row and swam at the beach every day. 20 mins away. Only wish I had air conditioning!

Could you see much with your eyes at all or was it mostly only through the camera? The northern lights tours are such a good money making scheme. When we went there was a lady who’d gone on the tour every night of her two week holiday and hadn’t seen anything decent. We saw a bit but not as good as yours

Yes, not super strong but you could see them sound to be like ā€œfuck aye, swnd thaā€. The camera definitely did pick them up stronger though, aye.

I’m glad we shifted our arses and got to the spot after the sightings on the app starting pinging through. We were only in the town near the spot, meaning a little drive through a country road and up onto a parking spot for a lake/park.

As soon as it really got clear an hour later, they had died down. I was almost going to go later, but we killed time going around Hellisgerưi (a local park that was lit up and decorated with these wooden stick deer things). Otherwise if I went for 11 instead of 10, I’d have missed them.

EDIT: I had free tea downstairs at hotel and I remembered more post caffeine.

Finally had a full medical this week - work offer them off Bupa. Been putting it off for years. They do the full works, bloods, BMI, cancer checks, mental resilience, etc. To my surprise I passed that shit with flying colours! Apparently I’m in pretty good shape. The doctor was hyped, I was hyped, and so was my wife. Good going into Christmas knowing I can probably have a few more mince pies.

Hell yes! I had my 6 monthly bloods the other day, still cancer free and now 8 years in remission since the ol’ thyroid cancer.

I’m not a fan of mince pies, but I’ll go to town on chocolate!

That’s amazing. 8 years, fair play. If you’d have asked me last week if I was bothered about having cancer checks I’d have probably said no, but to have some proactively and get clear results feels pretty good. Going to try and make it an annual thing. Think you deserve a fucking family bar of dairy milk for that one.

It feels great doesn’t it, especially with a full MOT in your case!

I’ve gone through a fair amount of Guylians over the past couple of days with the wife. I’ll head out to the shop later for the family size bar as per your orders!

Treated myself to an upgrade to first class for the journey up north. Got to Euston, saw the over capacity train and the 2 1/2 hours I’d likely have to spend standing by the loos with a suitcase and bag of presents and thought fuck that. Christmas treat.

I’ve never been in first class before. I’ll be sipping my free G&T while the shit munchers fight to get their seat.

Not really free though, is it? My usual train wants £150 extra for First Class, but Standard Premium is the same seats, just without the food and booze, and costs an extra £35. M&S in the station takes care of that

Ok fine, my £60 G&T.

Tbh, every Avanti train I’ve got in the last 5 years has either been delayed, cancelled or has terminated at Preston, and getting a train at Christmas always feels like the last chopper out of Saigon, and I’m so over it.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go peruse the ā€˜complimentary’ lunch menu.

Totally. Best of luck. Hope it doesn’t descend into a Christmas movie-level farce.

You’ve just got to go to the shops when you get too hot.
